Hello Ladies,

So I only came off the pill earlier this month, so I know my chances of conceiving are slim, but...

I am due to ovulate on the 30th Jan, we have a wedding on the 9th of Feb, but AF not due until the 14th of Feb. Would it be too early to test?

I don't want to drink if there is a chance I could be pregnant, but I don't want people to assume anything if I am not drinking, as there will be a lot of my partners family at the wedding.

What would you do? Is there any chance I could get an early positive? 5 days early?

some very sensitive tests (FRER -first response early results) claim they can.

but what would i do? i would go to the wedding, have one or two, and test only if period is late. Testing early leads to temporary insanity, checking test strip over and over, holding it up to the light, looking in different light, taking pics and seeing if it looks any different, extracting said test from the bin hours later to check again.....
dont do it! Grin

a couple of drinks wont hurt at such an early stage, or just dont drink and say your are on antibiotics or something. you dont have to explain why you arent having a drink.

TTC veteran here - I wouldn't test but I would definitely have a few drinks (or more). There's no need to give up booze during the TWW as it's too early for anything to pass through to the baby. There's a book I've read called Expecting Better by Emily Ostrom which is really good at breaking down some of the myths around TTC based on all the scientific evidence available.

Hi, I actually conceived first month off the pill so it can happen! However your estimated ovulation date may be considerably out as it can take a few months before your cycle regulates so keep using the OPKs.

I think the chances of an accurate pregnancy test that early are very slim tbh, when you consider implantation takes 6-12 days & then another couple of days before enough hcg is released to be detected.

Id be inclined to make up a white lie such as being on antibiotics for something -dental abscess/ tonsilitis etc to excuse not drinking & perhaps have a little champagne to toast - a few sips wont hurt.

Good luck!! Smile

It's really ok to drink in TWW and if you say you're on antibiotics people will twig anyway.

I would just carry on as normal. You may be lucky and conceive first month off the pill but a few drinks before you've even implanted won't do any harm. Don't put your life on hold trying to conceive. It will add unnecessary pressure, things may take longer than expected so enjoy nice things like weddings. Good luck.

Go to the wedding, drink as usual.
Test after AF due if you are late. The early testing does no good at all!

Trust me, I am 7+1 now and time drags and every day is terrifying. Better to not know until you are actually late!

Thanks for the responses Ladies.

I don't want to be driven to insanity, and that's one thing that myself and himself said we wouldn't let happen!

That's good to know that it will be OK to have a few. I am not a huge drinker, but as I am Irish you are pregnant or dying, drinking on antibiotics is totally acceptable and encouraged!

Looking forward to the wedding now Grin
