Hello.

Me and my Husband are going to try for our first baby. I have just come off the pill, but we aim to start trying after my next period, purely because we went on a cruise to the Caribbean in December and there is risk of Zia virus. They say wait 8 weeks after returning to be sure, which will fall around the time I will be due on my next period, so keeping with condoms until then. Also it gives my body some chance of returning to normal after coming off the pill (I know there’s mixed reviews about how long to wait after coming off the pill).

I have been looking in to all the ovulation kits, tests and devices out there and I am lost! I love the idea of the Ava Women Bracelet, but don’t love the £249 price tag! Then again I have been looking at the costs of everything else, and yes, they are a great deal cheaper, but thought if you use these regularly and TTC for a while the cost would be mounting up. Obviously we hope it wouldn’t take long but we are not expecting to conceive quickly either. We are both 33 this year.

My Husband brought me some of the Seven Seas Trying for a Baby suppliments today to get the right vitamins and get my body ready, and he has started taking some Wellman or Seven Seas tablets (not sure what they are).

What have everyone else used for ovulation that has helped them? Out of interest has anyone tried the Ava Women bracelet? If so would you recommend them?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I would advise DTD every 48 hours for a few months before forking out for bracelets and kits.

Hi OP just double check about the zika... I was told it's 8 weeks for us ladies to wait but 6 months for the men as it can affect the sperm for much longer. Just want to make sure you've been given the right advice! Good luck!

Thank you, I did wonder with the 6 months for men with the Zika, but from what I have seen it was if he had symptoms or got bitten, which he didn't. Thank you for the tip though, and thank you for the luck.

Just as an update on this my Husband paid for a blood test that tests for Zika virus. This came back yesterday and it says he has not got Zika, so he has the all-clear. We will have returned from the Caribbean 8 weeks on Sunday, but I am due AF anytime from Monday (Ava is predicting the following Monday (25th February), so by the time I finish AF it will be 10-11 weeks after returning from the Caribbean, so we are going to try after my next AF.
