Hi,
I’m brand new to this and wondered if someone could help me/share their experience?
I was due on last Sunday and no period came. I experienced a little bit of brown spotting spread over a few days. Took a pregnancy test on Wednesday which had a faint positive. I immediately tested again and got the same result.
After reading threads here, I then waited until Thursday morning first thing to do another test which also had a faint positive, darker than the day before.
However, last night I started spotting red/pink blood. Not enough to come off on to a pad, just when wiping but has continued each time I’ve got to the loo. Took a pregnancy test this morning and had a clear positive but the bleeding hasn’t stopped.
Can this be normal? Has anyone experienced it before?
I know my friend had bleeding with both of her babies but it’s so early I don’t want to tell anybody or ask her for advice until I know The outcome.

I know after being examined and smears tests that I have something called an ectropion of the cervix which makes me have abnormal bleeding/spotting between periods however I’m wary of putting it down to this.

My GP surgery doesn’t open at weekends so I’m really just looking for some advice/experiences of similar happenings to get me through until then? Im going out of my mind googling!

Thank you in advance to anyone willing to help today!

I spotted with my second, thought it was all over but it was fine. The doctor can't do anything, they will tell you just to wait and see.
I hope it turns out well for you x

I spotted in week 5,6 and 8 with dc1, it seemed to slow down when I rested - I also have a cervix which likes to bleed!! Hope the same for you.

Thank you both so much for your replies! That gives me a bit of reassurance !

Spotting/bleeding in early pregnancy can literally go 50/50 either way. For everyone with a story of a happy ending, there’s one who didn’t get one. My spotting ended in a miscarriage; unfortunately from this point onwards the result is completely out of your control - I really hope you get the outcome you want though. It may just be because of your cervix like you said. Just try and stay calm and wait it out. Easier said than done I know! Flowers

Thank you for responding! I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I’ve a feeling my result may be the same as the bleeding hasn’t stopped. I suppose, like you say, all I can do it wait! Thanks again x

Just wanted to update this as I’ve read so many threads that don’t give you updates or outcomes and leave you in limbo.

I’ve woken up this morning with a full flow of blood including a clot. I’m 99% sure I’ve miscarried but wonder if I should see a doctor or just continue to test until it’s negative?

It’s amazing how much something like this can take over your life in just a week. I feel so much loss from something I never really had.

I will update this in a couple of days when I know for sure for anyone that might be in the same situation.

Thanks again to anyone that replied x

Ring your local early pregnancy unit as they will most likely want to see you just to check everything and make sure that if you have miscarried, you don't have retained products which can cause infection.
I miscarried in December and it took 3 weeks but fortunately everything went smoothly.
Flowers hope you have better outcomes in the future

Dmum13 · 27/01/2019 09:48

Thank you. I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage!
I looked up the early pregnancy unit and they said they only see people from 6-12 weeks and I’m pretty sure I’m not that far along!
I am going to try to book an appointment tomorrow to see me gp.

Sorry to hear this Sad I agree what PP said they will want to scan you to check if there’s anything left so definitely worth a call.

Rest and be kind to yourself. This journey can be really devastating Flowers

Thanks Ells! I called the early pregnancy unit and the midwife told me that it would be 50/50 at this point but not much we can do but wait. She said to see the GP of the bleeding continues and to test again in 1-2 weeks!
Thanks for all your advice, I suppose it’s just a waiting game now x

Just an update...
3 days later, still bleeding like a period however now experiencing cramping too. Saw GP who advised that I am having a miscarriage as suspected.
Not the news we wanted but feels better to have an answer rather than being in limbo.
