Faint positive 2 days after period

Me and my fiancé have been trying to conceive for years now and have unfortunately had 3 miscarriages. However on the 5th January I got a BFP but 8 days later I came on a strange period It was brown for three days barely any and then for the 4 days left it was like a normal period (sorry tmi).
Its now two days later after my instincts telling me to take a test I took one and it has come back positive. Have I had a chemical pregnancy with my HCG level not fully left my system or am I actually pregnant?

How strong was the line on the test you’ve just taken? If the test on Jan 5th was when your period was due then if you are pregnant you’ll be about 7 weeks now, so you’d expect a strong line. The bleeding could have been a miscarriage, when I had mine (I bled at 6 weeks) it still took a few weeks before my test went completely negative, but the test line was really pale and kept getting lighter. But lots of people bleed in pregnancy, so it’s just hard to be sure- if you are 7 weeks you could book a private scan to be sure? (They can definitely do them from 8 weeks, I don’t know if you’d need an internal scan at 7 weeks). Or take another test in a few days and see if the line is darker? The not knowing for sure is so hard, hope you’re ok x

Could have been an implantation bleed not a period? I think like rose said you need a scan, or see GP and get blood test.

Thank you for your time. my "period" was on time just very random. I used a 10 mIU on the 5th which was a fairly faint positive and i forgot to mention during the 8 days between the positive and period i had negatives on 20-25 mIU then after the strange period i took a 20mIU and came fairly faint again i tested today and have the same results as yesterday. My partners sister also had the same bleeding as me when she was pregnant and is now a amazing 3 year old. Also twins run in both families as i am a twin myself could it be possible to have miscarried one and one has survived? i sound crazy but its been 4 years TTC and just really want to know now!

If you really want to know, the best thing will be to see a Dr about this. Even more so because any bleeding with a positive test could also indicate an ectopic. I had this once before and it ended up being a chemical unfortunately, I phoned 111 and spoke to a Dr who told me to go to A&E. They scanned me and took my bloods; couldn’t see anything on the scan for how far along I supposedly was and told me the HCG was very low so looked like an early miscarriage. They then asked me back 48 hours later for more bloods to conclude if HCG was rising or not (it wasn’t, it was declining) all in all it took a good 2-3 weeks for the HCG to leave my system.
