So last week i went to the docs because me and my hubby have been ttc #4 for two years n 3 months they referred me which I'm so happy about. My appointment come its for the 15th april. I had a full blood count taken on monday and today i got the results most of them come back fine apart from i have very low iron and my FSH ( Follicle stimulating hormone) is 18.5 and the nurse practitioner said for someone trying for a baby is not good at all and im unlikely to fall pregnant and that it means i have poor egg quality and i arent ovulating every month properly. I definitely think im ovulating this month (today as im really crampy) . Im absolutely devestated has anyone had high FSH and fell pregnant naturally 😥😥 xx

I responded to your post in infertility. Just checking: what cycle day was the test taken?

Cleozeta · 24/01/2019 09:32

I had high FSH result in January last year of 18.4, I started accupuncture and got pregnant the next cycle. Unfortunately ended in mmc but I did conceive. I have continued with the accupuncture and had a repeat FSH test done in November after I had a chemical pregnancy and it had gone down to 10.4
It does fluctuate and isn't the be all.

Interestingly my gp didn't call my 18.4 result 'high' he said it was 'boarderline'

sazzle3 · 24/01/2019 09:42

@Cleozeta really thats good to hear then. Are u in the uk xx

Hen the result is totally meaningless. It needs to be taken cd 2-5. Anything outside that range of cycle days doesn't correspond to much as the boundaries of normal become much wider. Have the test retaken.

sazzle3 · 24/01/2019 10:16

@Physicskate awww really that gives me some hope then. Should i ring and rebook for them bloods at my docs for when im on cd-2/5. Would they come back lower if taken on them days xx

I have no idea what the result would be if taken on the correct day. Ring them if you want a true fsh taken..

sazzle3 · 24/01/2019 10:34

I will thank you. Its given me hope xx

Hi, I had a FSH of 17.5 and was told I had hardly any chance. I had 3 failed ivf but then fell pregnant 3 times naturally! I was drinking like a fish, gallons of coffee etc and I was pretty shocked when it happened. Had resigned myself to having none. I did take a few supplement which I think helped? Also I had cut down on sugar and had lost some weight which i think also contributed. High fsh is not the end it just means ivf may be tricky xx

sazzle3 · 24/01/2019 12:38

@Harveyrabbit76 when you got ivf did u already have children? I alreqdy have 3 so dont think they will give me ivf. I dont drink coffee its mainly water or fat free drinks. I lost just over 2 stone. What supplements have u been taking x x

No children and paid for ivf privately. Bit of a waste of money. I then was waiting for a donor egg cycle but I took CQ10 ubiquinal, royal jelly, l-arginine and high strength vit D. We also realised that we were successful if we had sex night before due to ovulate. I used the clear blue monitor.
