False positive OPK?

Hi I'm new to this so hope I'm in the right place.

I had a missed miscarriage which was discovered at 12 week scan and had a D&C/Surgical management on 24th Dec. After I finished bleeding and finally had a negative pregnancy test on 6th Jan I started using OKPs again. I got a smiley on a Clear Blue test on 10th Jan and then positives on the cheap green sticks on 12th, 14th and today (but not any of the days in between). I also did a Clear Blue test on the days I got positives with the green tests and they were negative.

Does anybody know why I'm getting random positives? Are they just really unreliable?

Thanks x

Opks are used to detect LH which surges during ovulation. It is possible for your body to try and ovulate but fail to do so, in which case you can still get a positive opk but without actual ovulation as the test is just looking for the LH. So yes you can get positives even when you are not ovulating. I hope that makes sense
