Has anyone fallen pregnant despite taking contraception??

I have been having a contraceptive injection, I go every 13 weeks for a top up (so to speak) I have only had 2 injections so far, my 2nd one was last week.

I just wondered if anyone has ever become pregnant despite being on contraception.

I am probably being completely stupid but I am having some strange pregnant feelings (which are probably side effects of the injection?)

I have 3 beautiful children (5, 3 and 1)and I am asolutley certain that they are my lot. I am looking forward to getting my life back a bit now they are all getting bigger.

The only thing is I have this stupid niggle...
My periods have stopped completely, and the doctor reassured me that this happens to a thrid of women who have this contraception, so I basically have no idea what is going on down there!
I have recently noticed by boobs have got firmer, and I have put weight on my belly! It is just suddenly a little pot of flabbiness!! (This is usually the last place I accumulate weight...I'm a bum and thigh kinda girl)
I have also been really tired for the last month or so...I have been falling asleep all over the place! I keep sitting down and drifting off, which although I have 3 small children, I never usually do!

Now do I go and buy a pregnancy test or am I being ridiculous????

I fell pregnant with dd1 while I was on the pill. I hadn't missed one, or been late taking one, so I guess I was just in the tiny percentage of women who do fall pregnant while on the pill.
It's possible that your symptoms are just a side effect of your new contraception though, but the only way you'll find out is to do a test. Hope you get the result you want! Good luck!

No experience with contraceptive injections, but i did get pregnant on the contraceptive pill even though I was taking it religiously.

It sounds like it might just be side effects, but I'd get a test just to put your mind at rest!

Good Luck

i best mate got pregnant on the injection, my mum got pregnant on the pill and the coil, i've got pregnant on the pill ( although MC ) and i knew a ton of people who got pregnant using withdrawel/ natural methods..

it's certainly possible so do a test just to put our mind at rest !

do a test

sounds like you won;t relax otherwise

i don;t think any contraception is 100 % effective, not even sterilisation , so there is always a tiny chance you could be pregnant

i've had a mirena coil for 2 years and have a half day spotting , rather than a period now, and every so often i get the 'oh no, i must be pregnant ' thing !

I got pg on the pill 10 years ago. Was taking it regular, never missed one.
I decided to terminate for personal reasons. Am now currently 13+3.

I have done a test this morning (quick trip to Morrisons )

Its all fine, I'm not pregnant!!

The side effects of the injection have just made me worry!

Thank you all for your replies though...I appreciate it

hi
i have had the injection and never got pregnant but have been on the implant for nearly 2yrs and now think i may be pregnant, even to the point of having it removed as i was getting all the pregnancy symptoms. done 4 hpt and doc has done one blood test, all negative but still got the symptoms.

glad your not pregnant tho, dont know what i am going to do if i am!

Those all sound like side effects to the depo, I was on it for 5 years and I think I had all of those! I was advised to come off it because of the bone deficincy risk it poses, and also all those side effects weren't that pleasant (although I didn't realise at the time they were side effects).

It is a super convenient contraceptive and I think the chances of getting pregnant on it are incredibly slim (especially as they say it takes up to a year to get your fertility back to normal after stopping it). Now being on something else I'd think about something else though - maybe the coil?
