Ok, can anyone help with confusion on the withdrawal method?

DH and I have been using withdrawal method (and occasionally condoms) quite successfully for the last four years. We have the 2 dcs we planned and no surprises!

I always thought that this was because DH is very efficient, and withdrawal method was risky because men cant always control their, ahem, passion.

However, I heard last week that even if he withdraws in time there are sperm in the pre-ejaculation fluid and a risk of pregnancy .

Does anyone know likely this is? Have we just been really lucky so far not to get caught out?

yes that is ture and the withdrawal method is definitely not a recommended method at all

My understanding is that there is some sperm in the pre-ejaculation fluid and you have been lucky IMO.

My dsil and dbil have two lovely sons conceived on the withdrawal method. I guess you have been lucky so far

And I actually considered myself a sensible Capricorn, oh well...

I suppose I thought that to realistically get pregnant you would need the ejaculation to propel the sperm to where you wanted them to go.

I suppose I should start insisting on the condoms a bit more really!

Snigger - my dh and I did very well on the 'timing' method (avoided ovulation period for 5 days) Dd2 was due exactly 6 days after she was supposed to be, from dates!!!

I too am amazed at his efficiency sometimes LOL! I don't think I could be quite so restrained

The risk of there being sperm in the pre-ejaculate is down to how recently the bloke last ejaculated. Some sperm get left behind in the urethra, and then come out with the pre-ejaculate.

But if the bloke last ejaculated a while ago, the risk is much lower.

I think if you time it as well ( not do the deed on certain dates) you have a better chance

in bedroom both drink cocoa, he removes pyjamas and folds them neatly by the ghostly light coming in from landing

voice over gives hawhaw type commentary about withdrawal method he "efficiently" ends process and voiceover syas something like" at this time when we need children for the rebuidling of the country after the tragic war years do not be disheartened if you find that this method is not always safe..a child is a blessing for your family, your country and your queen"

the way I see it condoms are only 98% effective so the use of nothiung at all even if he doesn't totally 'finish' inside you seems bizaare (sp?)
