41 and trying for first baby

Hi
I am very new to all this, I never thought I would have a baby due to past circumstances but at 39 years old I met my husband and we’ve been trying for a baby now for 5 months.

I’m pretty healthy, have regular periods, don’t smoke, don’t drink much ( nothing this past month) I’m a vegetarian and trying to watch my diet and have iron and protein.

I’ve had a lot of stress the last few months which probably hasn’t helped I’m so worried that it just won’t happen for me. My hb really wants kids and I’m scared I can’t do that for him.

I’ve had a lot of bad things happen in my life, suffered from anxiety and depression though much better these last few years.

Any advice or success stories for those other 40 would be great starting to lose hope

thank you 😊

Kath

Take it steady; I had first at 43 and second at 46, both on the 4th month of trying.

Hi Kath, it’s one of those things where you have to just keep positive and keep trying. We were trying for a year, had a miscarriage in May. Stopped trying in September because I had to have an operation only to now be 9 weeks pregnant following getting a little carried away when we were supposed to still be avoiding! I’m 42 soon

It’s not too late but may take longer.

DC2 was born a month before my 40th birthday. Which means I got pregnant at 39. It can be done! Good luck.

I think there is a thread for those TTC over 40? Have a search and hope over there?

I had to have ivf for my first dc at 35, but since then I've had two more dc naturally at 38 and 43! I think it was stress initially that affected my fertility. I had hypnotherapy during the ivf and gave up work, that really helped me.
