When did I conceive?

Hello, I am trying to work out the date I conceived, and was wondering if anyone could help/guide.

I ovulated on the 14th & 15th Dec. I had sex on the 15th. The same month I also had sex on the 5/6th and the 19th. My assumption is that it would have been the 15th, but would be keen to know if there is a chance it could have been on one of the other dates.
As an addition, I took the morning after pill on the 20th as I had a brief change of heart about getting pregnant (I’m okay now though!)
Thanks in advance :)

If you are sure you ovulated either the 14/15th and you had sex on the 15th that would be when you conceived.
Were you tracking ovulation?

Charlottesweb8 · 09/01/2019 11:43

Hi Lymphy, thanks for responding. Yes I was tracking ovulation using the sticks and it definitely said 14/15th that I was ovulating, but I didn’t check after those days (as normally it only shows I’m ovulating on 2 days), but I just wasn’t sure how accurate they were and if there was a chance I could still have been ovulating on the 19th. Is is possible to get pregnant when not ovulating?

If you stopped testing with the strips it’s difficult to say I’m assuming you have a 28 cycle so days 14/15 sound bang on for ovulation, it could have been later but without testing/charting it’s difficult to say. You can’t get pregnant without ovulating, this must happen to get pregnant. I mean this in nicest possible way but does it matter? Are you concerned about your conception dates? It’s just you took MAP and sound a little anxious in your post, I may just be reading to much into it so apologies if that isn’t the case x

Charlottesweb8 · 10/01/2019 09:47

No you’re right, I am at little anxious, but was scared of potentially nasty comments...

There are two possible fathers. I didn’t think I’d ever be in this position, but I am and I don’t know what to do. I definitely ovulated on the 14th//15th and if I conceived on that date then everything is fine. If it’s one of the other dates then I’m in trouble. I don’t know how to find out for sure, and am not even sure there is a way tbh.

I feel very worried and very alone :-/ I appreciate you responding so much. I will go to the doctors and tell them the situation and get their thoughts too. Then I guess I’ll have to take it from there...

It could be either the 15th or 19th to be honest. Too close to call 100%

Bigonesmallone3 · 10/01/2019 09:57

I thought I had conceived bang on the middle of my cycle and knew the dates we had TTC so when it came to working out my dates I used date of conception rather than the first day of last period..
Turns out I was wrong and was neither of the above and was a few days after my (predicted) ovulation date.
So I would say 15th or 19th

Charlottesweb8 · 10/01/2019 10:06

One thing I have just checked, is I was using an app and have entered info on the 16th to say I wasn’t ovulating. I would have only done that if I had definitely done a test. So that gives some hope that I was only ovulation in the 14/15th x

Just to let you know, with my last pregnancy, I only DTD once, on the 2nd May, and didn't ovulate (confirmed by temps) until the 7th May. You can't rule out either of them imo, so you'll need a DNA when the baby is born.

Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly · 10/01/2019 10:08

But the ovulation strip will only have shown the LH surge that causes ovulation, it won't have detected when you actually ovulated. You can ovulate anywhere between 12 and 48hrs after a peak positive.

Charlottesweb8 · 10/01/2019 10:16

Do you think it could be the 19th even though I took the MAP the day after?

OP posts:
Charlottesweb8 · 10/01/2019 10:19

If my LH surge was on the 15th and i ovulated 48 hours later, would that not still rule out the 19th?
I’m probably clutching at straws....

Bigonesmallone3 · 10/01/2019 10:24

I think you are, honestly u can't rule out the 19th with 100% certainty..
Sorry

ShowOfHands · 10/01/2019 10:27

I'm afraid there is no way if knowing who is the father. Those strips don't show ovulation, only a surge.

Charlottesweb8 · 10/01/2019 10:30

Thanks for the input, I do appreciate it even if it’s not the best news.
One final question, does the map not play a part here? Would this not rule out the 19th?

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 10/01/2019 10:32

You cannot rule out the 19th. The MAP fails. You do not know who the father is and will need a DNA test.

Bigonesmallone3 · 10/01/2019 10:36

Morning after pill can be 95% effective if taken within 24 hrs

Lymphy · 10/01/2019 10:43

Ok, I thought there was something, you shouldn’t get nasty comments, when did you take the MAP? How long is your cycle usually?

Charlottesweb8 · 10/01/2019 10:47

I took the map the following day (within 18 hours). My cycle is about 29 days and fairly regular

This story sounds like it could of been written by a close friend of mine, she made a mistake, she had the MAP, still ended up pregnant.. couldn't be sure and in the very early stages still she decided it was best to not go ahead with the pregnancy.

Charlottesweb8 · 10/01/2019 10:50

That is sadly the position I am in. I’m absolutely gutted and feel so ashamed.

OP posts:
Bigonesmallone3 · 10/01/2019 10:56

I'm sorry you are in this position, it was a mistake and I'm sure it's one you will learn from.
Do you have support or someone you feel comfortable talking to?

MyDcAreMarvel · 10/01/2019 11:02

It’s most likely the 15th but the 19th not impossible . Ovulation sticks are normally used if you are tcc why did you have unprotected sex if you are not ?

MyDcAreMarvel · 10/01/2019 11:02

Ttc .

Charlottesweb8 · 10/01/2019 11:08

It’s a good question, I was ttc with my partner at the time.
But for a very brief period, I was very confused as someone I used to love came back into my life, but I realised how stupid (and drunk) I had been, hence the map.
Sorry it’s prob a bit confusing and like an episode of EastEnders 😞

I have one friend who is currently pregnant and once had a termination (she is also training to be a midwife), who is helping me through this.

I feel so guilty, for my unborn baby, my partner, all the women who can’t conceive and here I am having to consider an abortion due to being selfish and stupid. I just wish I could turn back time.
