Have I missed ovulation?

Only on cycle 2 of TTC. I've been tracking periods on a fertility app for 4 months and last month just went off that.
This month I've been using ovulation tests but I've not had a positive one!
Fairly regular 28/30 day cycle.
Started testing day 10
Now day 19 and still nothing.
So new to this can anyone shed any light?

What ovulation tests are you using?

I bought boots own make and they go positive if the lh hormone is present and states you should ovulate in 24/48 hours.

Although I wouldn't recommend them. My friend used the expensive cb ones and was pregnant quite quickly. I think they show a smiley face or something.

I got pregnant in August using the Flo app, sadly I miscarried and I'm desperate to try again which was why I bought the ovulation tests.

Good luck

WombatStewForTea · 08/01/2019 06:48

Thanks I was using the clear blue ones with the smiley face but when they ran out I've started using One step strips which I'd seen on here.

Good luck! I might check out the app you used too

I stood for ages trying to pick them.
The boots ones are like a pg test which is crap too especially when you get the 2 lines then remember it's for ovulation 😫

Are you aware when you're body ovulates?
Although I bought the tests I actually felt it and knew with the sticky discharge

TwittleBee · 08/01/2019 07:07

Are you testing twice a day? I get a positive OPK in the evening despite that morning it being negative and then by morning it will be negative again.

Also, OPKs don't work for everyone. Theirs known to be unreliable.

Look out for your change in CM. If you notice EWCM then you might be in the fertile window and then when it changes to being creamy you'll probably have ovulated

Blondemother · 08/01/2019 07:46

If you have a short surge it's pretty easy to miss it.
What times of day are you testing?
Did you get a second line at all?

Fortheloveofscience · 08/01/2019 09:40

Buy the super-cheap ones from amazon (think I got a pack of 60 for about £20!!) and then test multiple times a day around when you think you’re ovulating.

Fortheloveofscience · 08/01/2019 09:40

Also, if you drink a lot of water then you might never get a ‘true’ positive.

Hi wonbatstewfortea

I am in the same boat I have a average 32 day cycle but on my last 3 cycles I have ovulated on cd17, which is when I think I ovulate. I started testing from cd15 just in case and been getting flashing smiley on cb opk s. This is my 7th day of flashing smileys! However on cd17 I didn't test first thing and could only test 1pm! However at 1pm the stick was the darkest it's ever been (will try and attach pic) but never got static even though I tested in the evening as well as 1pm. Do you think I've missed it? I have now ran out of ovulation sticks feel so fed up!? Any help will be appreciated xx

You might be ovulating earlier than you think. I generally ovulate 3/4 days after my period. Maybe try testing from the day after you've finished to see if it makes a difference. The 14 day rule is only an average.

Baba11 · 08/01/2019 18:43

Sorry forgot to say I ask tested on cd12 and cd14 and got blank circle. I don't understand why I am still getting a flashing smiley? Last cycle I got a blank circle after my static. I have no more sticks left so can't even test anymore neither. I don't get it Confused

WombatStewForTea · 08/01/2019 19:04

@TwittleBee

I wasn't testing twice a day for the first few days (CD11 - 13) but then started to test several times a day! There's a faint shadow but that's all.

Wondering if I missed it early on as I hadn't read the instructions properly so didn't leave four hours between wee and testing.

WombatStewForTea · 08/01/2019 20:17

Meant to add that until now I'd paid no notice whatsoever to CM Blush
I know think I probably have ovulated and the test missed it.
Thanks for explaining- I'll know what to properly look out for next cycle!

I am obsessed with my opk's, i test on waking and at 3 ish or afternoon time Confused

I also have an average of 28 day cycle however my body likes to do its own thing and i got a positive opk on cd 19 last month (but we didn't ttc) and then this month cd 17.

Also lots of clear cm and sharp pains are a give away!

Wombatstewfortea

Hi

Any luck?!

I'm on my 9th day of smiley faces and losing the will to live. Attached my latest test, but think I'm going to give up
Sad

WombatStewForTea · 10/01/2019 18:51

Aw that's disappointing Baba
I'm now CD21 and still no positive opk but having read up on cervical position and CM and been more observant I think today I may have EWCM but then I guess I'd have a positive opk?

Baba11 · 10/01/2019 19:13

Wombatstewfortea

Are you still using your cheapies or clear blue?

When do you normally ovulate on previous cycles?

WombatStewForTea · 10/01/2019 20:10

Still on the cheap ones. Do you think I should go back to clear blue? Do you just test once a day with them?
I've no idea when I usually ovulate. Until now I just went off periods and fertility tracker Blush

Baba11 · 10/01/2019 22:14

Depends hun. They are expensive and I'm losing will to live at the moment. Do you temp apparently that is suppose to help too(although hasn't helped me this month)
Would cd are you? I have been bding every other day but giving up I think!

WombatStewForTea · 10/01/2019 22:30

No not been doing temperature. Cycle day 21 of a normal 30 day so I'd be very surprised if I haven't yet ovulated!

So frustrating isn't it!

OP posts:
Baba11 · 10/01/2019 22:49

Yeh it is frustrating. Are you going to keep testing until af shows up?
Dh wants me to try again tomorrow but it is depressing to get the flashing smiley.

Baba11 · 11/01/2019 21:21

Do tested again today (last and final day)

Another flashing smiley but when I took it apart the lines were as dark as each other
Am I clutching at straws here??

Have I missed ovulation?
WombatStewForTea · 12/01/2019 11:43

Sorry Baba I've no idea - I'm so confused by it all now. How many flashing smileys is that now?
I'm still getting negatives but sent DH out to buy some more clear blue tests

OP posts:
Baba11 · 12/01/2019 12:56

Cd 24 so now 10 flashing smileys.
I've given up hope now. I can't do anymore this month...

How you getting on?

WombatStewForTea · 14/01/2019 20:35

I'm still testing but not sure why!
Best friend at works just confided that she's pregnant (very very early) and it's made me feel even worse.
How are you getting on Baba?

OP posts:
Baba11 · 14/01/2019 21:43

Aww that has go to be hard. I'm sure you are happy for them but it's hard when your trying too
I've given up for this month can't do anymore
