Hello!

Phew so glad Christmas is out the way - wow I found that tough on so many levels.

I just thought I’d write in here as I have our first ivf appt tomorrow and I am really struggling to be positive.

My husband is Mr positive and gets frustrated with me if I wobble, but it is hard!

He has low SA and I have low AMH so not good on either count! Has anyone used Access funding (pay upfront for unlimited rounds in 2 yrs - if you’re not successful get your money back)? Any feedback would be so helpful- I saw one comment where it mentioned you have to use all embryos from
Your first round, is there a disadvantage to doing this?

Wish me luck for tomorrow! Sending good wishes to all for 2019!
X

Yes good luck SmileStar

How did you get on @WorriedButterfly? X

WorriedButterfly · 04/01/2019 00:15

Thank you for the well wishes. It was ok, I find this process painfully slow! They have suggested I take DHEA for 6 week’s due to low AMH. I’ll give it a go if it’s going to help, has anyone else tried this?
He also seemed concerned than I said I drank 25units a week over Christmas. I have now stopped completely, hopefully that will help.

Plan to start ICSI in 6weeks! I feel quite excited with this huge cloud of doom hanging over me!

Thanks for asking! X

Keeping everything crossed for your ivf.

I was hoping either of you may be able to advise me. I’m so confused. Iv got low amh (was 2 in 206 and was 1.4 in May 2018) and only one active ovary that seeems to produce very few eggs but I did conceive in the first window of ovulating when we started ttc in Oct 2018. this resulted in a miscarriage at Xmas and I just had a d&c last week. I’ve been taking oregnacare since end of nov when I found out and have continued with the conception one now. I’ve looked into supplements such as ubiquinol and am happy with the extra d and zinc and omega I’m taking alongside it. I did take 1 week of dhea but have stopped now COs I panicked as I havnt had my andorogen levels checked and I know it can do more harm if you don’t actually need it. And I’m freaking out that my period won’t ever come back even though I’ve always been regular and ovulated. I know I need to calm down. Apologies if I’m making anyone else’s freak out Too. My gp last night gave me the paperwork to get a day 3 fsh blood test. Wondering if this will be enough to check my testosterone level? Could that one week of dhea have done damage to my cycle? Can anyone recommend a clinic I can go to that will happily check my androgen level? I’ve heard such good things about the effect of dhea on egg quality and don’t want to waste any more time as I’m 36. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Surely, if your consultant recommended she's, they should be the ones to monitor. Take deep breaths and phone the clinic.

WorriedButterfly · 15/01/2019 16:42

I am sure it will be fine, my consultant felt so strongly that I should take DHEA based on my low AMH (no other tests). He also said that there are a lot of negative effects written about and not to read them. I of course have! But view is it as relatively short term (6weeks prior to starting IVF) and he wouldn’t be recommending them if they caused any form of adverse effect.

Please try and stay calm, you’ve been through a lot over the last few months.

Here if you want to chat x

Thank you so much guys. I realised acterwards how panicky I sounded! I feel quite confident that 6 weeks of dhea before we try again would be okay but am just going to wait for my period to show its face, have the fsh test and then take it. Will keep you posted. And keeping my fingers crossed for you too. Xx

Just seen this post and it took me back to 8 years ago!! Good luck... easier said than done I know but try to keep positive and calm.

For me a positive mind set was not thinking this won’t work ever... and also not thinking this will work right away! I just tried to view each appointment, each scan, each treatment as a learning curve that would hopefully get me there. Each step positive or negative is a step in the right direction!

Good luck!! :)
