Still pregnant after BFN on early test?

Hi all,

New here and just after some advice. I got married in December and went straight off on honeymoon - we aren't actively TTC but weren't the most careful either while we were away.

I am due AF in 3 days but for the past 3/4 days have had extremely tender, swollen feeling boobs (even rolling over in bed causes discomfort). I don't usually experience this on the lead up to my period.

I haven't had any other symptoms of potentially being pregnant aside from a couple of waves of nausea (but have also got a cold at present so being blocked up might have caused this).

I did an early detection First Response test earlier today and it came back negative however I feel something is going on as it's just not normal for me.

Anyone else been in the same situation? Now I'll just wait and see if AF does come on time and if not, do another test but sort of feel in limbo now and thinking it's all in my head!

TIA x

Early testing is much less accurate than if you test on the day your AF is due. I found that it made me more anxious to test early because a negative can still turn positive a few days later. Anyway, every time I was pregnant (had a couple of miscarriages) I felt like AF was due. So I'm not sure if feeling pregnant equals being pregnant. In my case not feeling pregnant had good results as well. I hope you get good news soon.

Hi @pattimum93

Im quite literally in this exact same situation which is weird! Im also due AF in 3 days and also did a FRER this morning which was also negative!

I have sore boobs too, not too bad but noticeable! I have a few cramps though so I do feel AF is on her way!

@explodingkitten thank you for your advice and sorry to hear about your miscarriages

@emcrave - how weird! I haven't had any cramps yet, but I don't usually get any symptoms on the lead up to AF so that isn't abnormal for me. Very frustrating just sitting around waiting though and I don't want to talk to anyone I know about it in case it's nothing and they get all excited and then I look a fool! Saturday can't come quick enough so I get a definite yes or no! Good luck! Smile

Im afraid I always found that any symptoms showing early on were due to period and not pregnancy. Pregnancy symptoms are due to pregnancy hormones which rise each day. If the hormones are high enough to cause symptoms they'd certainly high enough to show on a test. It's hard but id try avoid early testing. So many pregnancies don't take in the first few days and so cause major disappointment eg positive tests become negative a few days later when period is actually due.
