Hi all, I planned to stop the pill today (cerazette) ready to start ttc hopefully around April time. However I dtd yesterday and am wondering whether I could get pregnant if I dont take my pill today as I've heard sperm can survive for 5 days. Am I being ridiculous?

It's possible... unlikely, but possible I think

I think it would definitely possible because you hear of people missing (supposedly) one or two pills and getting pregnant. It would be unlikely though. Usually the pill stops you ovulating and it takes a few weeks for your body to ovulate once you stop taking it.

I got pregnant while taking it so I'd say it's definitely possible

Possible but unlikely.

Frenchfancy · 02/01/2019 12:25

Why are you stopping today if you aren't ttc until April?

I've fallen pregnant on the POP it's supposed to stop you ovulating but has never stopped me (I get ovulation pain so can tell)

Of course people fall on the pill. X

It’s very possible, there’s a 12 hour window period with cerezette once that’s passed the mucous plug will begin to disintergrate allowing sperm to get in also the drop in progesterone can stimulate the ovulation process, I’ve had a few ladies fall pregnant extremely quickly after stopping progesterone only methods, it may not happen to everyone but it’s a possibility x

Thanks everyone. Will keep taking it for a few days to be on the safe side.

@frenchfancy We planned to stop taking the pill now to give time for periods to return/settle before ttc.
