TTC for the first time at 35

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting, as my husband and I have finally decided to start TTC. For personal reasons, we’ve had to wait a long time before trying but I feel like we’re both finally ready. Are there any others out there who conceived for the first time after 35? I feel like I’m completely alone and have no idea what I’m doing! I stopped taking the pill at the end of November and just got my first period so things seem to be functioning normally. I’m ready to track ovulation and so on. Does anyone have any tips? Am I just too old or have others managed?

Thanks Smile
Xxx

Good luck with your ttc journey.
I wouldn't let age worry you. 35 is not old, have seen a lot of post with women 40+ trying and some seem to be successful pretty quickly.
I am 28 and have been trying for the last 5 cycles. It's quite stressful and I have found it all rather emotionally draining, particularly the 2 week wait. Try and take it all in your stride and occupy your mind with other things too Smile

We started to TTC when I was 35; it took 6 cycles / 5 months. There are people who'll struggle at 20 and others who'll get pregnant instantly at 40. Just go for it and see what happens!

I’m 35 and came off pill in summer and had implantation bleed which I’d never had before then very strong positives but sadly beginning of Oct at about 6weeks I bled very heavily and miscarried so we are now trying again. I have 2 children already but they are 14 and 12yrs so I’m unsure how things will go this time as such a long time since I last gave birth. My children are to a previous relationship and although my partner has a child himself we would love one together so we are just trying and hopefully things will turn out well.

I am worried incase we cannot have another due to my age but I have read lots of women giving birth in their 40s on here so I’m trying to remain positive.

I was 34 when we started TTC and we got pregnant second month of trying (sadly that ended in miscarriage but then got pregnant again after 2 months, appreciate we were very lucky). I read somewhere when we started that the average age for first pregnancies in UK was 34, so you’re definitely not old! Good luck!

Hi there, I didn't meet my partner until I was 38. We moved in together at the end of July 2017 and I got my BFP on December 14th 2017. Our 100% healthy 4-month-old boy is now asleep on my lap.

I thought I'd missed the boat, too, and in fact we managed to conceive in less than the average time taken. I doubt it's too late for you. Good luck x

Forgot to give the important piece of information that I was 41 when I gave birth lol. Must still have baby brain.
