Miscarriage d&c - irregular cycle

Hi there,
Not sure if this is the right place to post etc... I sadly suffered a miscarriage and had a d and c at around 9 weeks. That was 8 weeks ago. Since then I've had one very light and very short period. Based on that my period should be due next week but I have had spotting since Friday (so for approx 5 days) that stopped yesterday. I did a pregnancy test today and it's a bfn.
I'm getting really stressed as my cycles are clearly out of whack. They've always been really regular and never had spotting before. I wondered if anyone else has had this following a d and c and if so how long it took to go back to normal. It's making me so stressed out as no idea when I'll be ovulating (ovulating tests have never really worked for me, when I conceived my son they said I was constantly non fertile!) and will be really hard to conceive. I'm also so scared of having another miscarriage. Agh! Any advice would be appreciated Smile

Stress alone can make your cycles go bonkers. And sadly, so can a d&c. Very sorry for your loss.

It's not at all unusual for cycles to change for up to 6 or so months after a first trimester miscarriage. And stress won't help. So, if you can practice some self-care and find ways of relaxing, it may help (and even if the t doesn't you might feel a bit better). I find/ have found mindfulness, counselling and acupuncture helpful at times.

I had a D&C at 11 weeks back in April and I tended to have spotting for a few days then my period on each cycle thereafter. I had one very odd cycle totally out of whack on cycle 3 after D&C but it did regulate but spotting became new norm for me. I'm now on first cycle after another MC (lost without any intervention) so waiting to see what this does to my cycle.

Very sorry for your loss.

Maybe try an ovulation kit to see what when you are ovulating to try and understand cycle a bit more. I found it helpful. But if that would cause you stress then maybe just wait a few cycles.

@Gpmg84

I had a d&c in October. I had spotting on and off all the way up to my first period which was 4 weeks later. I also had a BFN on the test. I phoned the EPU and they said if I was concerned to come in but there's no rule book about how much or how little you maybe spotting for. I also could tell it was just spotting and not an infection. Once I had my first AF all was fine. My cycles have gone from 24 days to 28 days. X

@Newbie21 thank you for sharing your experience. I'm so sorry you have also suffered losses. It's so painful. I'm trying to stress less as advised but it's so hard..! I'm hoping that my af will appear soon so I know where I am in my cycle. It's helpful to hear others have had spotting following d and c as part of their cycle too. Wish you so much luck for future pregnancies. X
@physicskate thank you for your advice. I'm trying to stress less and chill whilst I have some holiday over Xmas and hopefully that will help! Have also booked some acupuncture for the new year. x
@Funnybunnyfluff thank you for sharing your experience and sorry that you have suffered a loss too. It does sound like the d and c can change your cycles. Just hope that my return to some sort of normality soon....! Good luck with yours too! X
