First month TTC: AF late but 2 BFNs?

Hi everyone! I'm very new to all of this, just in the very first month of trying to conceive our first baby, so bear with me if my grasp on the lingo isn't quite up to scratch yet. :D

I haven't been tracking my temperature, but I've been using Clue for around 2.5 years, so is normally quite accurate in predicting my ovulation and AF. My husband and I had sex every other day around my predicted ovulation date this month, and lo and behold, my period is late. It never does that: my cycles are 28 days to 30 max. But two FRER tests, one on CD29 (AF due) and one on CD32 (today), both gave me a BFN. What is going on?

I realise that I may have ovulated late or skipped ovulation altogether, but I do find it strange that this should happen in the very month we try to conceive for the first time ever. Weird coincidence! I'm not really doubting the BFN, either, but where do I go from here? My tracking is all off whack now, so how do we know when I'll be ovulating next and when to keep trying? I'd rather not start temping, I know I'd obsess about it!

Thanks in advance for any advice x

Oh, and I've also had five days of cramping just before my AF was supposed to show up. I'm one of the lucky ones who rarely get period cramps, so I'm not sure what to make of this, either...

I was 9 days late the first month ttc... that was 6 months after copper coil (not hormones) had been removed.

Stress delays ovulation.

As Kate says, I think all the excitement and symptom spotting can delay your period. I was 4 days late during my first month TTC.

Keep trying - have sex every couple of days roughly around the time you expect to ovulate, and if you aren't sure then cast a wider net - start trying a few days earlier than your app says and stop a few days later.
