hello can anyone help??

me and my husband have been trying to get pregnant for over 2 years now and i have just been prescribed 3 months of 50mg clomid. i am happy about the thought of this perhaps greatening my chances of getting pregnant but i have heard so many different stories about people having bad side affects has anyone else had this?? has anybody else had the same dose and fell pregnant within the 3 months?? xx

Presumably you've been given clomid because there is evidence to suggest you are not ovulating regularly.

Do you have a diagnosis of the underlying problem?. At two years plus of ttc without success there is likely to be a problem with either one or both of you. Your husband should also be tested asap to ensure there are no male factor problems preventing conception.

Side effects have been reported with clomid; breast discomfort being one.

Who prescribed the clomid?. I would hope that you are under the care of a gynae at a subfertility unit. If you are not then you should be referred to such a unit asap.

I hope also that you are also being monitored whilst on this (you should have blood tests as this can affect hormone levels) because its actually quite powerful stuff. If you are not being monitored then I would ask why. Clomid encourages the ovaries to work harder.

A person is normally on clomid for a max time of six months after which time other treatments are looked at.
