TTC on short cycles??

Hi all, I'm just wondering if anyone has got pregnant on quite short cycles? Mine were always around 25 days before the pill but I came off the pill 3 cycles ago and have had cycles of 27 and 23 days, and I'm now on cd18 and judging by my symptoms today AF is imminent, so this cycle is likely to be less than 21 days!

I'm a bit worried as reading online suggests it's a sign of perimenopause...I'm only 32!!!

Any experience/advice appreciated 😁x

Hi @PineappleC
I’m in the same boat as u. I’ve been trying to conceive for 14 months now. My cycles used to be 26days but now are 20-21 days. I’m 36 so I’m worried about early menopause too! This prob isn’t reassuring for u but at least u know someone else is TTC Ln a short cycle too.
I’m on CD11 today and THINK my OPK was a positive but not 100% sure

There was a time when I was early 20s that I had 21 day cycles! I did acupuncture, chinese medicine teas and healthier diet...after a couple months periods became 28 day cycle and was like that for 10 years! Now after two dc they are 25 days.

PineappleC · 18/12/2018 22:14

Thanks for taking the time to respond both of you!

@starlight that is really good advice thanks! I had heard that acupuncture helps so I will look into that! Diet is pretty good and taking TTC vitamins but I could probably do with limiting my sugar even further!

@broodyaf it is really good to know that someone else is in the same boat 🤗 14 cycles sounds really frustrating! I read a bit more this afternoon and the menopause thing seems to be about ovulating really early because of an FSH overdrive, so I guess if you ovulated at around cd11 that's not really early so hopefully it's not that!? I'm not currently tracking ovulation other than CM, and based on that I think I ovulated around cd11-12 too, so I'm thinking it could be a low progesterone thing. It's just a bit concerning because I know 21-35 day cycles are "normal" but I feel like i'm about come on in the next day or so which would give me a 19 day one!! Hopefully not!! FX for this cycle for us 😁

@pineapplec this month 14 of TTC but cos of short cycles it’s over cycle 21. So frustrating surely. I took a 3month supply of iron supplements about 6months ago. Havin been goin to reflexology lately and she doesn’t seem to find any problems so I’m hopeful it will happen, but sooner rather than later cos it’s gettin us down when AF arrives 😔
Still not givin up and haven’t went to GP yet. Let me know how u get on this month x

I think sugar definitely plays a roll in changing hormones for some. Some are more sensitive to it.

FestiveNut · 19/12/2018 07:31

Tbh I wouldn't bother tracking them and worrying. We just dtd every other day. Worked pretty damn well and was far less stressful!

PineappleC · 19/12/2018 09:07

@broody oh yeah of course! That is promising though that you haven't found any problems so far. Have you been to GP? I am going to give it a couple more cycles and then might go and get checked out - if it is low progesterone I think they can give you something and so i' d rather know! Cd19 today and no sign of AF, but still having the usual cramping/nausea so expecting it very shortly!

@mamabear yeah I've heard that too! Really trying to limit as much as possible, but I'm a runner so often grab something post-run as a quick fix which i know isn't helping!

@festive totally agree!

@pineapplec no haven’t been to GP yet. U have to be trying 18months before they’ll do anything. Hopeful I won’t have to go at all 🙏

This is a random TMI question but it runs through my head all the time - does anyone stay still or try to keep as much in after DTD? Like if u get up straight away all is wasted? 🙈
Please tell me I’m not the only one thinks this

PineappleC · 19/12/2018 12:34

@broody oh Christ I thought it was 1 year rather than 18 months! Also wondering though how they'd actually know 🤔

And yes I put my legs in the air for 10mins afterwards starting from this month- a lot of ppl on here seem convinced that was what worked so I thought definitely worth a shot! 😁

Had weird CM today but i guess this is a weird cycle for me anyway. I am just hoping my body is sorting itself out!!

When I started TTC my cycles went haywire. I had a look back and they were 22, 32, 26, and 23 days long. That last cycle that lasted 23 days, I ovulated on CD 12. The cycle after that I also ovulated on CD 12 and got a BFP on CD24 (though I suspect I could have seen one sooner had I tested).

I don’t know if this helps, I just know that I was gettting worried about menopause when my cycles got shorter. And also low progesterone because I had somewhat short luteal phases and I’d start spotting several days before AF.

But obviously my body managed in spite of that, so maybe yours will too!

You might also still be stabilizing after getting off the pill. I hadn’t taken it in years, so that wasn’t affecting my cycles.

Broodyaf · 19/12/2018 20:43

I’m not even sure if I’m ovulating every month. Never seem 100% sure that any OPK’s are defo positive! This TTC carryon is such hard work 😓
