Hi gals!

I track my periods through natural cycles app dñtaking my morning basal temp same time daily for 6 months. I use this method as my contraception. I'm average 28-30 cycles and ovulate around CD16-18. I also use OPk tests around CD12 to CD18.

We are not actively looking to convince but we where not very careful this past week and DTD 6 and 4 days before I had ovulated. If I'm pregnant I'm thrilled and in secret I hope I am.

My questions are to do with charting my cycles OPK and BBT and how long sperm actually lives?

  1. Sperm life cycle : I'm reading different answers to sperm live 3 to 5 days and some say 7 days. Which is true?
  1. If I got a positive OPK two days in a row and then got my high temp two days after when did I ovulate?
  • DTD on CD11
  • positive OPK CD12 and CD13
  • basal temp rose CD16

Any insight would be helpful!

Thank you

Well firstly ovulation happens approx 1 to 3 days post a +OPK so I reckon you ovulated CD15 which matches the BBT rise & the +OPK on CD12

I believe it is something like 30% chance to conceive each cycle too. But should imagine other factors can influence that, closer to Ov day you DTD probably does help as more sperm will still be alive.

Thank you for the information. Where did you read it's only 30% chance of conceiving per cycle? I do believe it's fairly accurate as I know 60% or more of pregnancies are naturally rejected by our bodies. It will be interesting to know the results. We are both none smokers, healthy eaters and cycle daily. I believe as far as our bodies Our life styles we are good. I'm 33 so I can't help but feel like now is a good time to try as I have no idea how long it might take to conceive.

I'll keep this post updated to let people know if i had a successful pregnancy.

For over 30s it actually drops down to 20%

That isnt to say it is only 20% chance you will become a parent btw, just 20% chance on your 1st cycle

Yeah trust me I know about pregnancies being "rejected" - I am currently going through a MC, it is very common around 1 in 4.

Good luck to you if this is what you want Smile
