Pregnancy test and hyperemesis

Hi ladies!

Does anyone know if women who are prone to hyperemesis and extreme sickness during pregnancy are more likely to get positive pregnancy tests sooner than other ladies because of higher hormones ?

Scientifically - no idea. Anecdotally - yes - I had a clear positive result before my period was even due and went on to have extreme sickness.

@LittleRedYoshi Okayy thanks, how many days before your period did you test?

Only 1 day before. I'm sure it would have been positive at least 1 day prior to that though, based on the strength of the line

Me too, I tested about 3 days before, very strong positive

Hengine · 17/12/2018 19:47

I got a faint positive 4 days before my period was due, strong positive at 3 days before my period was due and only had mild nausea with no actual vomiting

Blueflower22 · 17/12/2018 20:48

@Hengine what test did you use?

I'm sure I'm going to get bad sickness as my mum did

I got a positive test 4 days before af was due, i was sick twice throughout my whole pregnancy!

Hengine · 17/12/2018 21:52

It was a First response early one so maybe that’s why!

Blueflower22 · 18/12/2018 09:59

@Hengine I heard you can do first response six days early? Is that true

With DD1 I got a positive on a FR 4 days before period was due, but it was very strong so I might have had one earlier. With DD2 I got a positive 8 days before my period was due, which was only 6-7DPO. I was incredibly sick with hyperemesis with both.

Hengine · 18/12/2018 11:55

From memory it’s 4 days before your missed period for a frer
Could be mistaken though

Blueflower22 · 18/12/2018 12:46

@ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName I currently in the 2ww and will test 8 days before my period then!

@Hengine I might try it six days early and see what happens 😂😂
Atm got no symptoms though and I'm 5dpo so we'll see what happens 😂

@ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName hey forgot to ask you, did you have any symptoms around the time you tested for both pregnancies?

Stormwhale · 20/12/2018 21:10

I haven't had hyperemesis, but I did have a very early strong positive with Dd. 4 days before my period was due i had blazing positives on tests in the middle of the day, not even fmu. I also had a positive digital on the same day. No link to hyperemesis for me though.

I honestly thought I couldn't be pg this time as it took until 13dpo to get a even a squinter. I am though, 16 weeks now!

Blueflower22 · 20/12/2018 21:12

@Stormwhale awww congratulations! How long were you trying

OP posts:
Blueflower22 · 20/12/2018 21:12

@Stormwhale **how long were you trying for?

Can I ask did you feel any symptoms before you tested as well?

OP posts:
Stormwhale · 21/12/2018 09:10

Thank you. This time we had been trying properly for two months, whereas with dd we had not been trying. I had no symptoms this time I just felt premenstrual, so again I really thought we were out for the month. With dd I was sure I was pg as my boobs were huge all of a sudden, which was what prompted me to test. This time the tests were so faint until 2 days after period was due when they got darker and symptoms didn't arrive until 5 weeks pregnant.
