TTC First time- bleeding day after ov

Looking for some advice from you ladies...

I'm currently 7 months into TTC for our first time. This month I got my first ever positive result from an ovulation test, which is promising, but then yesterday (day after) I started getting really bad period like pain and started bleeding lightly. I'm still bleeding today and getting the pains so am really confused what this could mean?

@Katiexoxox hi Katie! How are you? Maybe you have ovulation bleeding? This can sometimes happen or start randomly

Katiexoxox · 17/12/2018 14:13

@blueflower22 Thank you for responding, it's my first ever post and first day on Mumsnet!

So is ovulation bleeding very similar to a period?

@Katiexoxox well I've googled ovulation bleeding and seen the pictures and it can be described as a light period.

My mum gets ovulation bleeding also and has to wear a pad.

What day of cycle are you on?

This cycle I think I messed up slightly, as when I was on my period I was a bit unsure if I wanted to TTC so took two microgynon contraceptive tablets for two days, and then decided i didn't need them so stopped. But after that I had two days of bleeding!
I still have ovulated though but I hope that there is enough womb lining inside me for a pregnancy hope to god!

@blueflower22 Ah that's interesting to hear, hopefully it's all good then :) I'd love to have good news for Xmas/New Year! I'm on day 17 today.

Fingers crossed for you! Have you got any children?

@Katiexoxox thanks! I hope you have good news too! This is the best time for it at well. I've only really properly tried this month as last month we had sex a day too late. I don't have any kids yet how about you? Me and my partner decided we want to start trying thought as I feel really broody

Blueflower22 · 17/12/2018 14:39

@Katiexoxox I'm on day 16 btw! So one day before you! How long is your cycle normally.

Mine is normally between 26-29 days! Do you know if period always happens 14 days after ovulation btw?

Katiexoxox · 17/12/2018 14:49

No we don't have kids yet either, hence all the uncertainty around conceiving lol It's all so new to me! Nice to be able to come on here for support and answers.

Ah so we're pretty much on the same day then! That's cool! Good to compare :) Mine is between 26 and 30 so pretty much the same. Erm.. this is the first month I managed to track my ovulation so not sure to be honest.

@Katiexoxox that's great, we can be like TTC buddies then 😂
I'm super excited for the end of the month just keep reading pregnancy forums, but I've got uni assignments due so I guess it's not a good distraction!

So for the past 7 months have you not been monitoring ovulation?

Katiexoxox · 17/12/2018 15:04

Yes I love it! No one around me knows that I'm trying, and it's so hard to keep it all to myself (and partner).

Yeah I know what you mean, I can't seem to focus on anything at all just lately.

I've been trying to be relaxed about it and just let it happen without trying to monitor things and worry etc but after 6 months I decided to do everything I could to make it happen. I've cut out alcohol all together now and started tracking my ovulation.

@Katiexoxox are you not telling your close family or friends about it?

Well I've kind of been thinking the opposite to you. I've heard that if you don't use OPKs and think about it less then that's the month you get pregnant! As your less stressed apparently. So I'm not sure. But scientifically OPKs would do a better job 😂.

Katiexoxox · 17/12/2018 15:24

Yeah that's why I wasn't doing all of that lol but after 6 months of being relaxed not working I'm having to do things differently.

No, I'm not telling anyone until it happens, I feel like I'll be feeling more pressure around it. have you told people?

OP posts:
Blueflower22 · 17/12/2018 15:27

@Katiexoxox did you monitor any cervical mucous ?

Nope I haven't told anyone as well yet, we will maybe about three months into the pregnancy. I don't think people will be too pleased about it and classify both me and partner as young foolish parents, I'm 20 and he's 25 but we both feel ready to have children. How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

Katiexoxox · 17/12/2018 15:45

I know plenty of younger parents than you, so I wouldn't worry :) As long as you both feel ready that's all that matters. I'm 25.
