Folic acid for ttc #2 whilst bfeeding #1

Dim question....but I am hoping to start ttc #2 this coming easter so want to start taking folic acid supplements but am still bfeeding my 14mo at bedtime only. I assume its OK to take it?

Be aware that 40% of the population are not able to process synthetic folic acid and for these people it can do more harm than good.

It is better to look for natural folates - 5mthfr or folinic acid instead, and actively avoid synthetic folic acid, or foods enriched with it to be safe.

That's certainly be much better for your current baby's safety as well as health of an unborn child.
