Coil agony!

Shamefully posted here for traffic in sheer desperation!
I had a copper coil fitted 2 days ago. Hurt like a mofo going in! Spotted for about 12 hours, then nothing.
Now... oh dear god! I was walking round Asda like a hunchback! Shooting pains up my bum, horrid period type pains that can only be likened to labour!
Anyone any experience of this that isn’t going to scare the shit out of me please?

Definitely speak to a doctor that doesn't sound good... I've not had one myself so I can't speak from experience but I know a friend who had issues with hers so I would definitely recommend (if you're in the U.K.) calling nhs direct x

I’m back at the docs now. Can’t feel the strings(neither could DH!) who said romance is dead?!

I had this - it had perforated my uterus. Excruciating! Get seen and scanned asap

BurningBras · 07/12/2018 15:25

They had a look up there(miners lamp, the lot!) the strings are there still. They’ve “wrapped themselves around my cervix already”. Apparently this is a good thing! It’s basically just bedding in. Paracetamol really helped so I’ll just take that again. If I’m worried though, I’ll definitely go back

I had this. After a few months of it I couldn't hack it any more. I went back and had it taken out and immediately had a mirena put in. I was taking cocodamol and naproxen daily just to try and deal with the pain but even then it was still unbearable. Compared to the copper iud the mirena is amazing.

BurningBras · 07/12/2018 17:18

I had the Mirena a few years ago and spotted/bled pretty much constantly! Drive me nuts. I put up with it for about 3 months then had it taken out.
Hormones hate me!

Had the copper coil for a year and I believe my exact words to my then D(ish)H 'you better get your head around the things I'll do just so you can have sex with me'.

He really wasn't worth it.

It eventually settled down but periods were hellish and I even felt ovulation. I've never felt that before or since.

BurningBras · 08/12/2018 17:18

DH is looking into getting ‘fixed’ roll on that day!!

I also had this- it perforated by uterus and was up by my spleen. If had to be removed via keyhole surgery. Confused

Never again.

My...not byXmas Smile

KinCat · 10/12/2018 02:17

I had awful cramps when I first got the mirena coil put in. They settled down after a week or so.

BurningBras · 10/12/2018 11:32

Cramps have pretty much gone now.
That’s pretty grim about the perforated uterus!! Jesus!

It sure is. The doctor who did tut operation to remove it told me that “it was like winning the lottery” in terms of odds. I’d have preferred the lottery win tbh! Xmas Confused
