Ok so this may be nuts (in fact it probably is nuts but.....)
I'm looking ahead at when I due to ovulate over the next few months (starting to TTC January).
Has anyone ever taken a days holiday from work to make the most of your fertile window (DH works from home and I work stupidly long hours). Interested to see if anyone has taken time off to....well you know lol Grin

It seems pretty bizarre to take a day off work to have a shag 🤷🏼‍♀️

DragonMamma · 03/12/2018 18:29

Just do it first thing in the morning or when you get home. It’s a fertile window, not a fertile hour!

BuffaloCauliflower · 03/12/2018 18:29

Wake up a bit earlier and DTD first thing. Or maybe an early evening ‘dentist appointment’ so you can get out a bit earlier?

Polly99 · 03/12/2018 18:32

You want to be having sex in the 2 days before ovulation to hit your fertile window, so taking time off in the day of ovulation probably won’t help!

Actually OP, when I conceived DD1 my DH was working in Manchester and we lived in London, so I took a day off, went up for a long weekend and Bob’s your uncle.

I have booked leave around my fertile window as I work nights and hubby work days so we are literally passing ships apart from days off.

I want to be certain we had go it in before O day so I booked two nights off work xx

Darkstar4855 · 04/12/2018 11:04

I did a couple of times but my partner and I both worked shifts. If my fertile window fell e.g. when I was on nights and he was on days (both 12hr shifts) then we wouldn’t even manage to be at home at the same time, never mind dtd! So I booked a few days annual leave a couple of times to cover my fertile window.

I was 37 at the time so conscious we didn’t have masses of time to try. I felt sacrificing a few days leave was worth it if it increased the chance of having a baby!

You shouldn't have a shag-a-thon when you are ovulating. If you loo at any respected medical research or books the best advise is to have sex every other day over your fertile period. If he ejaculates too often the sperm won't be the best quality due to lack of time for maturation.

A580Hojas · 04/12/2018 11:17

When do you have sex when you're not ovulating? Only at the weekends?

emwithme · 04/12/2018 12:09

The month we got our BFP I had written it off completely. Due to DH's shifts and us being ill, we did it twice that month - four days before ovulation and four days after.

It obviously worked because the result is 6 days old and snoring on my chest!

MushroomMushroom · 04/12/2018 18:35

Thank you for all the comments, some of which made me laugh. Yes, our DTDs only really happen at weekends as, like I said, I work very long hours so during the week DH and I don't get much if any quality time as I'm shattered or worse still not there!

I think I will try to perhaps work from home on one of the days before ovulation and maybe if that doesn't work try a day or two off. Like a PP said it's an age thing, im 36 next year so time is not on my side so have to perhaps do things which are a little strange to ensure I give us the best chances
