Sorry but can anyone help re:miscarriage

Firstly apologies if this is the wrong place to put this. Can ask for it to be moved if in the wrong place.

Am pretty sure I am having a miscarriage. Had a scan at EPU on Sun after starting to bleed and have been bleeding consistently since. I can't go back to EPU until a week has passed (as only 5-6 weeks and they couldn't see much) so am currently in limbo.

I just wanted advice on if this is going to hurt or not. So far I am just bleeding without cramping and haven't 'passed' lots of material which I guess means the miscarriage is incomplete? Although it would be quite early.

Am hoping when I go back they will offer surgery as am terrified that the bleeding will escalate to a horror show when I am at work or something.

@smerlin firstly I'm so sorry you're going through this. I've had 4 miscarriages. 2 at 10 weeks and 2 at 5 weeks.
Since you're only between 5-6 weeks I would say your bleeding and pain will be similar to that of a normal period. Maybe slightly more clots.
I noticed more clots at 5 weeks MC but I was wearing a sanitary towel as you can't wear tampons. So you notice the bleeding more.
Just try to stay as comfortable as possible and take some paracetamol just in case xx

Mine was just like a period at that gestation.

So sorry this is happening to you.

Can you stay off work for a few days? I’m sure your boss would understand if you confide to them

Sorry you're going through this.

I mc'd last year at around 7 weeks. For me, I had bad period cramps first, then a heavy period for three days. I didn't notice anything particular in the flow, but I must have expelled it at some point on the third day. It was just a heavy period as far as I could tell. I did have lots of cramping though.

Is it possible it's a haematoma? That may explain the bleeding without pain. But I guess you have to wait and see what happens at your next scan. Mine were a week apart and the second showed nothing so it was definitely a miscarriage. At your next scan they'll make a decision as to whether you need medical management or not.

Look after yourself. It's a horrible thing to go through. Flowers x

Well the reason I am thinking mc is because last pregnancy I had a haematoma but this time it is bright red blood all day every day not brown blood or on and off like last time. Also I have no pg symptoms this time. Finally I took a clearblue test and it said I was less pregnant than the previous week. So not adding up to a positive feeling given I did have a haematoma before so have experienced it before.

Am dreading going back to EPU. They always seem so unwelcoming.

Sorry you’re going through this.

At similar gestation a couple of times I had nothing too bad, though one time the bleeding dragged on and on and I had to have an ERPC.

Important to go back to the EPU to check you’re OK.
