How long between sex (for sperm)?

Sorry, I know this is er... not a lovely topic.

So, I've had an earlier than usual nearly positive opk. I told dh when I got home and he looked all sheepish. Turns out he masturbated when he got home from work. So wise people, should we give it 24 hours for him to... replenish or go for tonight and tomorrow evening. Haven't had sex yet this cycle at all.

I'm aware I'm over thinking this but it's been 11 months and I'm getting fed up of all the sex and over thinking about sperm levels, eggs being released etc.!

Google really confuses me when it come to if you should leave 24 or 48 hours between sex. And this would only be 6 ish hours!

Someone please hand me a grip as I know I've gone a bit mad. Sorry.

I think it’s still worth giving it a go tonight and tomorrow. Ideally you want sperm to not be more than 48 hours ‘waiting’ for want of a better term, but today and then 24 hours to replenish should be fine

This is the exact same situation I found myself in about a week ago during my fertile week. I don’t use ovulation sticks, just my app for now.

Came home from work, dh had the day off and he told me he had done the same as yours! I wasn’t impressed. Told him I needed the sperm that week and he could get back to that the other 3 weeks of the month. We just went for it anyway. Dh has quite a high sex drive.

Had a good laugh about me needing the sperm. I either seem to laugh or cry these days about things related to ttc. I had a mc in September and still emotional, thankfully with this I found the funny side!

It is so hard though constantly thinking about fertile time, when you can test etc I feel exactly the same, if can be very frustrating.

Haha drama queen! Ttc is such a rollercoaster. Sorry about your mc. I had one in February. It sucks!

My fertility doc told me if your partner’s sperm is normal then 24 hours is fine. If there are any issues with the sperm (lower numbers than normal or slow swimmers etc), that 48 hours is better. Obviously that only helps if you know though! If you’ve had a positive OPK I’d definitely go for it sooner rather than later

If your opk is only nearly positive I would give it a miss tonight and go for it tomorrow night! Ideally he should wait 24 hours between ejaculations (eww, such a grim word!) so tonight would be a bit of a waste unless you were both super up for it in my opinion!
