Help Working Out My DPO

Hi all! Smile

I have been watching these boards for a while and am currently TTC #1 Cycle 4.

I use the Clearblue Digital Monitor and got a peak/smiley face on November 20. Because an OPK can only tell you that you’re likely to ovulate in the next 24-36 hours, how do you work out how many DPO you are? Do you take it from the positive OPK, in which case I’m DPO7, or do you guess when you actually ovulate, in which case I’m DPO 5/6ish?

Any help would be great! I’ve searched a few threads but can’t find the answer.

Hi, I too am using the clear blue fertility monitor and I got my peak on 22nd of November, I've tried to get my head round days past ovulation too. I go on www.countdowntopregnancy.co.uk that's got calculators on there that give you an idea on days past ovulation, I put in the date I got the peak. X

It’s impossible to know for definite, it’s always an educated guess.

That’s great, thanks! I used the calculator and got my peak day, so I’ll go with that.

You just see people on these boards state their DPO so definitely, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something Smile

No worries! I'm exactly the same, lot to try and figure out, still a mind boggle at times 🙂

I test twice a day when I notice two lines on my OPK and when it's darkest is usually the day I ovulate tested the day after and negative so I know for sure it was the day before

I use Natural Cycles and the algorithm pin points when I ovulate based on my temperature so I go on that.

DuchessofPemberley · 27/11/2018 19:12

That’s interesting MrsP4 , i can only test once a day with the Clearblue digital so that’s something I’m missing out on.

I also haven’t been monitoring my temperature, I might do that next cycle.

The only way to definitively know is temping sadly. I always used to assume I would ov 24 hours after getting the peak smiley. Do peak smiley on Monday, I’d say I was 1dpo on Wednesday.

You’re right though, people on these boards often sound really certain! At the end of the day though, it doesn’t matter a huge amount because things like implantation are hugely variable too! So knowing whether you are 5 as opposed to 6 dpo tells you nothing in the grand scheme of things...
