Exercise and TTC

Hi all, I’m adding another thread (have posted a couple here,I’m really finding this support system is helping me.)

Bit of background. I had a mc in September at 11 weeks. Got pregnant second month of trying. Before I got pregnant I wasn’t doing a lot of exercise mainly due to some minor surgery on my foot.

We are trying again though not had any luck yet. I’ve rejoined the gym on a flexible contract as think it will help me mentally as well as physically. I also could do with loosing some weight as my BMI is too high, was nearly at the threshold for testing for diabetes in the last pregnancy and I just want to give myself the best chance as possible of a healthy pregnancy next time.

I’m just wondering about exercise and TTC. I’m in my 2 week window just now, and I’m going to start classes this week. I would also like to use the jacuzzi at the gym though I’m very nervous about that.

Is it risky doing to much/ hard cider exercise? Especially since I haven’t done much really for about 6 months.

Thanks for your help xx

If you’re already overweight then exercising will defintely help with ttc if only because it’s a stress reliever. I exercised manically while ttc my first and did a half marathon before I realised I was pregnant! I eased off hardcore spinning and v long runs in the 2 week window this time but only because I was hyper anxious. It will do no harm just take it easy.

Ps. Adjusting your life etc because you ‘might be pregnant’ is the road to madness. Wait for the test.

Start gentle and build up. Exercise is great for the body and the mind, and TTC is so bloody stressful, it's great to have a release, as the previous poster said. Definitely don't put off starting again because you might be pregnant, it's too easy to find excuses to do so and the shift in thinking regarding exercise and pregnancy has completely changed these days. You are actively encouraged to do it. Hope all goes well for you.

Thank you both. Yeah, totally agree that I can’t live my live thinking “what is I’m pregnant.” I have done this since we started trying and more so since the mc. I’m only now just starting to realise that I just need to live life as normal until I get a positive test. The pressure it puts on to constantly think where I am in the cycle is driving me mad. Thank you both for your advice. I will enjoy the class and the jacuzzi tonight. Xx
