Can Implantation cramps be painful?

Hi ladies,

I am roughly 10DPO today (AF due on Friday coming) and for a few hours today I've had on and off cramping but honestly pretty painful, sometimes short sharp pains. They have been pretty low down but slightly off centre to the right. Also, I don't have any bleeding. Has anyone ever had anything like this? Is more than likely AF cramping or can implantation actually hurt? I don't get AF cramps normally as I have been on the pill but been off it now for a couple of months TTC xx

It has been a v long time since I've been pregnant but I do remember that my implantation cramps very painful indeed. I once took myself off to A+E with the pain, but it was just implantation pains.

Someone else will be along soon I am sure with more up to date info. Best wishes.

That's how I knew I was pregnant. Got cramps and bad backache different to normal period cramps 5 days before AF was due.
Do you normally get period cramps and are your cycles regular? x

@MrsC87 Well I only came off the pill last month but I am a pretty clockwork 28 day cycle. When on the pill I never have any cramps at all so this is unusual for me. I did have bad cramps last month as well about 5DPO that almost took my breath away but literally lasted 5 mins and that was it. Today's cramps are futher on though, approx 10DPO. I have tested this evening with a BFN so bo idea what's going on. Starting to vet paranoid something is wrong as these were short sharp pains but went on for a couple of hours at least x

I had 3 days of cramps but it felt like I was getting my period. To my surprise, I got a bfp on day 14 after IUI. Currently I am on day 17 after IUI and have the scan planned on 11 Dec. Good luck!

I remember thinking my period was coming, because of the cramps and breast tenderness. It must have been implantation as BFP followed shortly.
