Ttc doesn't follow the rules, but does my logic seem sound?

About 8 months ago me and dh started trying for baby #2. Dd is going to be 5 at Xmas and after a lot of chatting, we decided to take the plunge again.
We were really fortunate last time and fell pregnant instantly, but this time nothing. Not even a slight blip.
Then I got a new job so we put on the brakes. I've been there a month now and in my head I am starting to plan ahead.
As dd is at school, I would like to avoid a summer baby, just so that when I take my mat leave (I would aim for a full 12 months) I would have a whole summer off with dd (and baby) without the risk of having just given birth/be recovering. I know it sounds a bit silly, but I went back to work full time and feel I've missed a lot. So many people I know work part time to spend precious time with their children, and I wasn't able to do that, so would love a full summer holiday off with her.
Now looking at my calendar, I think af is next due 11th December, so best case scenario this would put a due date at 17th September.
I'm starting to think that this might be a feesible option. To start ttc after next af. I guess I could take the last week or so as holiday so that mat leave didn't start until the start of Sept and then I'd get my "time" with them.
I know this is all hypothetical as we didn't have anything in 6 months, but don't want to try too early in case we get lucky.
