Trying to conceive with anxiety

I'm usually a vouyer on here but felt compelled to reach out to those who suffer from anxiety and are trying to conceive. I wonder if anyone has some coping mechanisms to share.

I've suffered from anxiety on and off for years and had various treatments (CBT, antidepressants, and lovely lovely Vallium) which helped at the time. I'm trying to conceive my the first time and just passed the first anniversary. My anxiety about there being something wrong with me is at an all time high. Symptom checking has become my main preoccupation when I'm not working. I also feel increasingly guilty about it being because of something I've done or not done. So I constantly research what the right thing to do is (which of course there isn't).

How do you deal with anxiety? Is there anything natural you would recommend that might help and is okay to do when you're trying to get up the duffer?

You're suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi so sorry to hear you are struggling.

I’m in a similar situation. Had mental health issues myself with being diagnosed with depression and anxiety in 2012 with anxiety and depression being the main things! Was on medication until last October with the goal of trying for a baby. Felt emotionally ready in may and got my bfp in July only to miscarry in may. Now trying again.

In terms of coping with anxiety I know it’s easier said than done to relax but it really helps. Take nice baths, read more amd generally do nice things for myslef. and my counsellor just told me about this thing called ‘guided body scan’ which you play for 10 mins and it makes you focus on the different parts of your body. Sounds weird I know but it has helped me.

I hope you get your bfp soon. Xx

Sorry, my post was confusing. Miscarriage in September not may and I was on meds from 2012 until Oct 2017. Not that any of these details matter to the discussion but thought I would clarify x
