Acupuncture?

Morning. Is it worth doing acupuncture to aid conception? Is it worth it?

My cycles are a little irregular, but not too bad.

Been trying for dc2 for 11 months (including an early mc) and got my period yesterday. Boo! I can get 3 free acupuncture sessions a year through work. How often do you need to go? I'm not sure how many sessions we can afford.

I just take folic acid with vit d at the moment. Contemplating adding vitamin c? Trying for a baby brand mucked up my cycle when I tried them (added 20 days!) so I don't want to go for a ttc mult vitamin in case it mucks me up again.

Already use pre-seed. Am I missing anything else I should be doing?

I'm over 35 so have just had a sub fertility referral sent off by the GP. Might take ages to come through though!

I dont know....but I am starting acupuncture this week to hopefully help my period along since stopping the pill.

WishingonaStar77 · 17/11/2018 22:56

@seven201 I have acupuncture for egg quality to help prevent miscarriage. I've had 4 now in last 2 years.
I take a natural pregnancy multivitamin and extra b6 plus 300mg Ubiquinol each day. I really think that's made a difference.
Acupuncture I started 6 weeks ago and I've had 1 chemical and got a BFP just today from the cycle straight after.
I do acupuncture once a week x

Thank you both. I think I'll go for it.

I'll look into those vitamins. Amazing news about your bfp star. Everything crossed for you x

@seven201 just to say, it would be a complete coincidence as I did get a positive OPK 2 weeks ago...but I had my first acupuncture session this week and my first AF arrived today since I stopped the pill over 2 months ago...who knows if the acupuncture helped but I'll go for a few more sessions just in case!

Great news pasta! I've got my first session tomorrow evening. It's worth a try!

Convinced it helped me conceive dd1. Took 3 months of fortnightly sessions, got me ovulating bang on day 14 whereas before I was around day 20

seven201 · 27/11/2018 19:43

That's great beansprout.

I went yesterday. She said I need to go weekly to begin with, although annoyingly she's away next week and fully booked the week after. Never mind. I have no idea what she did really but I'm going to give it a good go for a few months. She was a nice lady who seemed to know her stuff!

I'd highly recommend it, and even if it does not help fertility it is very relaxing

Hopingforthebestttc · 27/11/2018 20:59

I started acupuncture at the beginning of cycle 24 of ttc in total desperation. Had weekly sessions (although a couple of those were missed due to holidays) and got bfp on cycle 25 - now 10 weeks pregnant. Hadn't changed anything else and I'm convinced it's what made the difference!

You name it I tried it - Angus castus, pressed, charting, tempting, even had a laparoscopy after a year to clear out endo but nothing worked. My bfp cycle I literally did nothing other than went to my acupuncture appointments as scheduled!

Good luck!!

Congratulations hopingforthebest Thanks

I don’t have any experience of acupuncture with natural conception. I needed IVF because I am in a same sex relationship, not known fertility issues. First two rounds were unsuccessful. A friend recommended acupuncture and I was sceptical but felt I had nothing to lose so had it for my third round which resulted in DS. When we were ready for our second child, I had acupuncture from the get go and fell pregnant first time. So totally anecdotal but that was my experience.

Good to hear lots!

I'm massively forward thinking here...
Did you carry on the acupuncture whilst pregnant? I guess to lower the chances of miscarriage.

Seven201 I am continuing my acupuncture now I'm pregnant. Have my first scan next week to check if it's viable x
