Hi all,

Ok if I join? I’m TTC, #1 cycle 4, 31. I’m finding this cycle particularly hard (currently DPO 8 I think). I didn’t necessarily think I’d get pregnant straight away, but I vastly underestimated the emotional toll this would take.

We had a tragedy in our family earlier this year, one of the worst things that could happen, and while we had planned to TTC this year anyway it seems extra important now. Like we need something hopeful in our lives.

Sorry if that sounds ridiculously melodramatic Blush

We’re not telling people in real life, so it would be great to have somewhere to talk about it. Hope everyone is doing well today!

CookieWaffle · 28/11/2018 06:59

Hey @DuchessofPemberley I think we can all relate to the emotional toll. It's been a tough process. Feel free to share whatever you need to here, these lovely ladies are very supportive xxx

FlapJackered · 28/11/2018 07:04

@Crossfitgirl sorry for the bfn lovely. Not fun. One small benefit is that at least your luteal phase has lengthened?
Yes it was one of my first few cycles, I got a definite line on the one step then tried a frer and two other tests and nothing 😢
My temp went down slightly today but not over the coverline feeling very crampy so think af will come tomorrow.

@DuchessofPemberley welcome! Sorry for your loss. That doesn't sound melodramatic at all I think it's a lovely thought.
I think a lot of us here, like you, have been surprised at how long it takes to get pregnant. Not what they teach you in school. It's not an easy process! When are you due af?

MrsEG · 28/11/2018 07:18

Morning ladies, having a hard time this morning.

AF now two days late (unheard of for me); last AF was actually my early MC, but I ovulated on 12/11. Two faint FRER positives now, one Saturday one this morning. Two negatives (CB) in between. I am now worried this is a CP as I have no AF, so perhaps a late implanter hence the very low HCG levels on the FRERS, that I am just waiting to lose. Feeling completely hopeless.

MrsEG · 28/11/2018 07:21

@Crossfitgirl Sorry to see the BFN, it’s such a kick to the stomach when you get one. Maybe wait for the weekend and test again if no AF?

Bettythecat · 28/11/2018 07:33

@CrossFitGirl I am also charting and hoping my slight rise in temperature means something!! Woke up feeling super anxious today and dreamt I was pregnant 😐 I’m going mad

Bettythecat · 28/11/2018 07:36

@MrsEG sorry hun that sounds so stressful. Maybe leave another couple of days (if you can bear it) and test again if af doesn’t arrive? Would either give HCG enough time to rise or for AF to start 😟 such a crappy waiting game

MrsEG · 28/11/2018 07:38

@Bettythecat Thank you. I just feel like if I was pregnant and it was viable surely there’d have been a big HCG increase between the test on Sat and the one this morning? It’s so stressful. Whatever happens now I’ve decided to give myself December off and start again in the new year. I can’t cope with these levels of anxiety over Christmas. Pass me the Prosecco.

Bettythecat · 28/11/2018 07:45

@MrsEG I completely agree I’ve also decided the same. A few weeks of wine in my pjs is probably just what the doctor ordered although I’m also worrying it will have an effect on fertility for January?? 🤦‍♀️ The whole thing is such an emotional rollercoaster- perhaps your levels only rise a tiny bit right at the beginning? Are you using a decent test or should you maybe buy a more expensive one?

MrsEG · 28/11/2018 07:51

@Bettythecat My sister was drunk every day on her honeymoon and conceived so I think we’re fine with our wine :)

I had an early MC last month, where I had a very strong positive the day I missed my period, so I know something just isn’t right this month. Just a case of waiting it out now I think :(

purplefig · 28/11/2018 08:04

Morning everyone!

Sorry about the BFN @CrossFitGirl, they are such a brutal sight aren't they?

Welcome, DuchessofPemberley. I'm similar ish stats to you (27 / cycle 3) and I'm totally with you on your sentiments. I thought I'd be pregnant by now (lol) and really underestimated what an emotional toll it would be.

So since ovulation my boobs have been KILLING. They feel like they're bruised and stung by bees (drama queen? Who - me?!). I normally get slightly sore/heavy boobs after ovulation/before AF, but this is way more intense. However I'm reluctant to ascribe it to early pregnancy symptoms as I think I can recall this feeling a few weeks after I stopped the pill. But still, ow. Oh and I am SUPER bloated and gassy. A real delight.

Bettythecat · 28/11/2018 08:10

@MrsEG urgh how rubbish 😟, awful to have your hopes up and then have them dashed again. I’m desperately trying not to test but each day is really dragging now- natural cycles thinks af meant to arrive Friday but given I wanted to murder DH last night I think it’s probably coming Sunday (usually a telltale sign of af arriving in next few days lol). I feel like every other bugger has got preggo after one drunken shag and yet here I am drinking like a monk and nothing so far 😫

Crossfitgirl · 28/11/2018 08:44

Welcome @DuchessofPemberley. No that does not sound melodramatic at all, and yes TTV is far more emotional than anyone would think! Wishing you lots of luck on your journey, and we are all right here with you!

@flapjackered oh how awful with that test! Definitely won't be getting any of those. I've ordered a couple more FRERs so at least I have decent ones in stock. Not testing again now til the weekend. You're right though at least my LP is a bit longer!

@MrsEG I'm so sorry you feel like this and the faint tests must be awful to see after your MC. I'm with you and @bettythecat in that December is going to be a nice festive month with no stress, no matter what! Also, I know soooo many people that concieved while drunk. Then a few that carried on drinking not knowing! Lol x

Thank you @purplefig it's only possibly the 2nd or 3rd I have done since starting TTC as I don't like testing before AF is due so it's crap! Your boobs sound very painful!!! Do you get that with a normal cycle?

MrsEG · 28/11/2018 08:47

@bettythecat Agreed! My sister fell pregnant on honeymoon, as did my Mum with me. There’s only 13 months between me and my sister too so she had no trouble with a second either! It makes me feel like such a failure. I’ve been buying my nieces Xmas presents recently too and it’s so hard. Can’t help but wish I was buying them for me.

Welcome @DuchessofPemberley you’ve found a lovely supportive bunch! The emotional toll is unreal. @purplefig mentioned mindfulness to me and I’ve started using Headspace for 5 mins of meditation every day and it’s helping keep me a bit more sane!

FX for all of you over the next few weeks. Hoping to see a few more BFPs before Xmas from you all :)

purplefig · 28/11/2018 09:06

@Crossfitgirl normally they are just heavy/slightly sore. But this is next level intense. I did have it once before, not long after I came off the pill, so I'm not assuming it means anything positive.

@MrsEG sooo glad you're finding mindfulness helpful! If your free trial of headspace runs out, you could try the Breathe app. It's free (or you can pay to upgrade and access more) and there are quite a few different meditations to choose from. I find the woman's voice suppper calming.

Crossfitgirl · 28/11/2018 09:23

@purplefig hmm very sensible of you. Wish i was more sensible!

@MrsEG ooh I'm doing a mindfulness course at the moment. I've not found it hugely helpful to be honest but I keep trying all the meditations. I find doing it with movements or stretches is much more relaxing for me. I did like the voice on headspace though! @purplefig I might try that breathe app. The meditations we've been given are all recordings of the course leader, and he does speak a bit funny lol x

Well, AF has arrived.

I mean, why does she never come during my fmu? It's literally always about an hour after I've woken up thinking she's not here, wasted a test!

Oh well :-( onto cycle 9 for me!
And an alcohol filled Xmas.
I'm thoroughly depressed:-(

MrsEG · 28/11/2018 09:26

@crossfitgirl bleeding just started for me too, about 10 mins ago. Part of me is relieved. I’m taking December off and am going to throw myself in to all the fun of Christmas and just not think about it for a whole entire month. In fact I may just go and grab myself a mince pie right now!!

purplefig · 28/11/2018 09:31

@Crossfitgirl oh mate, I am sorry. What an absolute wretch not showing up first thing and getting your hopes up. Pop open the prosecco and get ready to have a fun-filled festive time I reckon.

The breathe app is decent when you need a quick fix, but like you I find yoga really great for calming down my nervous system.

purplefig · 28/11/2018 09:31

@MrsEG sorry to hear that but liking the attitude re: mince pies. Go get 'em!

FlapJackered · 28/11/2018 09:38

@Crossfitgirl and @MrsEG Acht sorry for af she really is the most inconsiderate witch!
As Mrseg says I would try and focus on the fact that being in sober in December is not a huge amount of fun and pregnant in Jan when you fancy a booze break anyway and a September baby sounds lots better!
I am sure I will be joining you tomorrow or Friday. X

Bettythecat · 28/11/2018 09:40

@MrsEG @CrossFitGirl so sorry to hear that 😫😫 I’m sure I’m next too. At least you get one (hopefully last) Christmas to really go for it before babies for all of us next Christmas!!

On the subject of meditation apps I use the Calm app- absolutely love it I find its much better than the Headspace app. The woman’s voice is a lot more calming and they play lovely music in the background. They have this amazing “breathe bubble” and 7 day series’ which have really helped me in the past.

Here’s to a champagne/Prosecco/wine/gin filled Christmas and New Year with hopefully some calmer minds!

sunshine1987 · 28/11/2018 09:45

Having limited caffeine and alcohol for the past 7 months, this month I decided on our honeymoon it was stupid not to enjoy it fully and ate and drank everything I could. This month we fell pregnant. Though it’s ovciously not the alcohol that helped I do think it was the relaxing of it and not worrying about it all day everyday. Know that’s not helpful but hopefully by giving yourselves a break over Christmas it’ll happen without you knowing it xx

stormtrooperjulian · 28/11/2018 10:07

@MrsEG @CrossfitGirl sorry about AF, but now you can make the most of able to eat and drink whatever you want over Xmas!

Welcome @DuchessofPemberly

@purplefig I’ve given up on my boobs for symptoms, they’re so different every month, sometimes slightly sore, sometimes really sore, and most recently nothing at all. Annoying.

purplefig · 28/11/2018 10:08

@stormtrooperjulian yeah like I said I'm not thinking it means I'm pregnant, mainly just complaining because they are bloody painful!

cupcakesandglitter · 28/11/2018 11:02

@Crossfitgirl ah man, sorry the cow has turned up. Here's to a relaxed Christmas though 🍷 I'm with you on feeling shit, I don't want to do anything right now.

@purplefig I had the same thing last night - realllly sharp stabbing pains in my right boob, Never had them before but AF is here for me so I couldn't count it as a pg sign... fx it is for you ❤️
