Retroverted uterus

Had a scan to rule our PCOS and found out I have a retroverted uterus. Does anyone have experience with this and whether it can cause trouble trying to conceive?

Had no success getting pregnant until I went with the whole pillow under backside, missionary and legs in the air for a bit afterwards.

I have one. It’s fairly normal and not caused an issue conceiving any of my children.

HandlebarTash81 · 15/11/2018 19:05

Honestly? It shouldn’t apparently. But the one month we did it a different way... it worked!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 15/11/2018 19:07

It caused me no problems - it’s like being left-handed I believe - less common, but normal. My uterus had flipped forwards by my 12 week scan

I was diagnosed with a retroverted uterus at a scan to check my ovaries a few years ago. Had no issues getting pregnant and it was in a normal position at my 12 week scan.

If I remember correctly, it can move around anyway.

SpottingTheZebras · 15/11/2018 22:26

It doesn’t move around but the weight of the baby means that it is generally completely forward by 12 weeks.

I have one & I had no trouble conceiving my three children.

@HandlebarTash81 I'm intrigued! How did you do it differently that resulted in conception?

HandlebarTash81 · 15/11/2018 23:46

The other way... you know. I mean, not THAT way, obviously.

Ditto66 · 15/11/2018 23:47

I apparently have one and managed to conceive instantly 3 times. No special approach! Easy births too. Never considered it an issue.

I have one and conceived easily twice. Had a small bump all through both pregnancies (despite babies being very hefty 9lb+ers) which I put down to my uterus being tucked away though.

Midwife with a retroverted uterus here🤚 I've had no trouble conceiving conceived on cycle 2, had a mc in August and then conceived again 9 days after the miscarriage was confirmed😳😍 now 13+2. It's just meant that when I had an early scan in epau the little bean was difficult to scan as was tucked up. At my 12 week scan it had flipped. 25% of women have this and it is just a variation on normal as other ladies have said. Good luck x

Thank you everyone. Glad to hear positive stories was so glad I didn't have any problems that didn't think to ask the radiographer about whether a retroverted uterus would cause difficulty
