Planning on TTC - question about coming off the pill

Hi all,

I’ve been on Loestrin 30 for about 9 years. We have decided now is the right time to ttc. I’m about midway through a pack and I’m unsure whether or not to come straight off now or wait til the end of the pack. Either way... am I correct in understanding that I won’t get pregnant until my cycle returns and I ovulate? Could this take a while considering how long I’ve been on the pill? I’ve been googling but I’m confused. Thanks!

You won't get pregnant without ovulating - but that could happen without you knowing because ovulation happens before your period.
Lots of people say it can take a while to get back to normal after coming off the pill, but others will say it happens straight away - you just have to play it by ear really Smile
Probably doesn't matter if you stop now or at the end of the pack - the bleed that you will have will be a withdrawal bleed and not a true menstrual period.

Stop now if you want, makes no difference. I'd been on the pill 15 years when I came off and my cycle returned immediately and I got pregnant first cycle. It's very individual and you won't know until you start trying.
