Ovulation

Really confused. Do I go with my app about ovulating or opk sticks? According to my app, I use flo, I ovulate Tuesday but I took opk sticks early this week and got what I think is a positive one. But when I read about them it says the line has to be as dark as the other one but was dark but not as dark if that makes sense. So putting the positive opk into my app it now says I’m 4 dpo🤔 We DTD thankfully the day before and day of the positive opk so hoping that’s enough but it’s all so confusing haha

I would go off OPKs and record as necessary in the app. And yes, the test line needs to be as dark, or darker, than the control line for it to be a positive OPK. I'm using the flo app & like it but obviously until you have a lot of your data in there, a lot of it is predictions based on a textbook 28 day cycle! Good luck x

Thank you for your reply. The line wasn’t as dark but it was dark. Just took one now and there’s no 2nd line at all so defo ovulated earlier than flos prediction. On the plus side I can test earlier then I thought haha! Thank you

Those non-digital OPKs confuse me. I was never sure if the line was as dark or not. They always seemed eerily similar, not quite similar, never conclusive. Result: a lot of anxiety. The Clearblue digital one gave me a clear OPK. I won't use the others again.

I think your OPK results are a better indicator than the app. The app can only work with standard predictions. It will be more accurate the more data you feed it (and the more regular and predictable your cycles are), but it's not actually measuring changes in your body.

Thank you for the reply.
Is it possible for them to have evap lines?

The 2nd line has to be the same colour or DARKER to be positive !!

someonekillbabyshark · 11/11/2018 18:50

Chances are you didn't ovulate then

Thank you. It was the same as the first test in that picture so defo didn’t ovulate then. I’m just so confused with it all. 4 Close people around us have fallen pregnant by accident and not planned it, were planning it and it’s not happening as straight forward as we thought it was😔 Fingers crossed it happens soon. Thank you for that picture, will just keep testing🤞🏻

I tested with one of those OPKs and the Clearblue digital at the same time - the Clearblue one detected an LH surge (they of course don't actually detect ovulation), and the other did not (conclusively - the lines were almost equal in strength). When I tested later that same day, the line was already getting lighter again. I think with those two line OPKs it is easy to just miss it. If you pee too soon / drink too much water / blah blah... whereas the (Advanced) Clearblue digital stores info about you, establishes a base line and signals changes.

Bab28 · 11/11/2018 19:55

Ok Thank you. If it doesn’t happen this cycle then will get some of the clearblue ones, thank you

You're welcome! I just mean to say: it is quite possible to miss your surge. It doesn't necessarily mean you didn't have one, or didn't ovulate, so don't worry too much about it. It is also possible to have a "practice surge", not ovulate, and then have your real surge later on. If you want to know for sure whether you have ovulated or not next cycle, perhaps try temping. :)

Bab28 · 11/11/2018 20:31

Ok thank you will try that as well. Fingers crossed won’t need to🤞🏻😊

My line never went as dark as the control line and I ovulated, I know this for sure as I now have a ds from that "not as dark line"Grin Other thing is, do take a test 2 dif times each day because some people only have the chemical in their system for a short time and so you can miss it!

@Bab28 when I got pregnant with DD we use the app and just DTD every other night! I think the tests can do more harm than good x

Bab28 · 11/11/2018 21:58

Yeh I think they do. If its not our cycle this time then weve decided to just DTD every other day till AF shows/doesnt show so then we defo wont miss ovulation. Thank you for all the replies
