Can anyone help with using opks as pregnancy tests..?
AF is due today but hasn't shown. Tested using frer a few days ago but came back definite negative.
Only have opks at home so tested this eve and it looks like a positive... but I don't know much about using opks as pregnancy tests. I know it's not the most reliable and that I need to get a proper test as soon as poss but can anyone give me any advice / opinions?? Is it possible to have a positive opk the day of period???
Thanks! I can see a sleepless night ahead waiting for the shops to open :D

Has anyone had this experience but not turned out to get a BFP? Is there any other way it could be explained?

@roobine I don't want to get your hopes up, but I was well over a week late - thought I'd do an OPK to see and it was the darkest one I'd ever had... AF turned up the next day. I've read two things; 1. Big LH surge before AF is normal and 2. If an OPK picks it up, then a FRER should have already too... sorry if it's not what you wanted to hear but I didn't have a BFP in the end x

That's helpful, thank you. I had a feeling that may be the case so will hold off getting too excited... will keep you all updated x

Many many women get a second lh surge just before af. I wouldn't read anything into it. Take an hcg test.

If pregnant, you would have a positive opk, but again, an lh surge at this time is common!!!

There are thousands in of posts like this. Some are caused by pregnancy and many are not.

Thanks Physicskate - that site is amazing! Had been searching for info online but not come across anything as detailed as that.
Still no AF this morning and I'm normally regular so will test today

I got blazing positives on opks when pregnant but you defo need to not get excited till you’ve done a proper test! Good luck xx

Thank you. Got stuck in awful traffic this morning so wasn't able to grab a test - the wait continues! Still no AF...

PP is right that some women can have an LH surge before pregnancy but just FYI I always got a positive OPK when pregnant (other than when ovulating obviously), and negative if I wasn't. This was my OPK when I was about 4-5 weeks pregnant. The test line is so strong you can barely see the control!
