Is this positive or Evap line on my pregnancy test?

Hi, I came off the mini pill a month ago at end of my last cycle, today is when my period is due but no signs. I did a pregnancy test today with first morning urine and was surprise to see what looks like a second line. It looks very faint though and not very pink and i’m thinking is this just an evap line? Your thoughts would be appreciated, has anyone had this happen and not been pregnant? Thank you.

That's a positive.

cherrylo86 · 06/11/2018 08:53

I am no expert but that looks like a very faint pink line to me! Hopefully you will get a stronger one! :) Congrats x

Thank you for your replies. I’m going to need to take another test, don’t want to get my hopes up incase it is an evap line? It’s only been one month and I haven’t had AF back since coming off the pill. I’m in shock.

Would there be any point in taking a clear blue digital today? I took a cheapy test first thing this morning and with the line being so dubious and faint would a clear blue pick it up later in the day? Any replies appreciate, thanks.

I'd take a FRER instead of a digital but I'd say that doesn't look like an Evap line as it's pink and in the right place... eeeh fingers crossed!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 06/11/2018 09:56

Get a CH digital for tomorrow's first morning wee. I needed to see it in black and white (despite numerous positive "line" tests) before I believed it! I fell pregnant within 2 weeks of my coil being removed, no period first and that was after 15 years of various hormonal contraception.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 06/11/2018 09:56

CB not CH Hmm

Cocobana · 06/11/2018 09:57

Thanks @HeresMeh I’m in total shock at even the possibility after so little time. Off to Asda for an early response as I’m too impatient to wait for first morning urine tomorrow. We started trying for a sibling for ds thinking it would take minimal of 3-6 months but we’ll see what the test says.

@AnotherOriginalUsername thank you, I will, that’s exactly it I don’t believe it because I keep thinking it could just be an an evap line and my period could be late or could even start this afternoon! I need to see it in black and white with line being so faint.

Remember and let us know the outcome @Cocobana

Cocobana · 06/11/2018 10:02

I will I’ll let you know the result, so nervous!!

Hi ladies, just a quick update I really couldn’t wait and took a clear blue digital test (admittedly my urine will have been more diluted but clear blue instructions say you can take test any time of day from day of missed period) and it came up ‘not pregnant.’ Has anybody encountered that and stillbeen pregnant? My period is due today but no signs as yet. Looks like the on test first thing this morning it really was a thickish evap line. Sad oh well there’s always next month I suppose.

HeresMeh · 06/11/2018 13:41

Hey don't be getting all negative... there's of course still a chance if you're due today and it's till not arrived. Hang in there!

The CB digitals are notorious for being a bit shite.

If this time tomorrow you've still not got your period then do another test, preferably FRER or a pink dye...

It's not over till it's over

Cocobana · 06/11/2018 13:59

Thanks so much for your kind words HeresMeh. I’ll do another test tomorrow if still no sign of period. I’m terrible for being impatient but thought because I’d waited until the day my period was due it would have been more accurate, some of these evap lines can be convincing. If no joy tomorrow I’ll keep fingers crossed by Xmas I’ll get some baby dust come my way (fingers crossed)

You need a first response I'd say that's most definitely a positive the digital tests don't pick up hcg till it reaches 20/25 units so not as sensitive x

Stephisaur · 06/11/2018 17:43

I would test with a first response and first wee.

The pills give you a false period, not a real one. So just because today is when you would expect your pill period to start, doesn’t mean that you are actually due today.

Typically, your period will arrive 14 days after ovulation. As you won’t know when you ovulated, you could be testing early. Hope that makes sense :)

Fx that you get a clearer result in the next few days :)

Cocobana · 06/11/2018 19:49

Thank you Lymphy I’ll try first thing in morning but I’m not hopeful although good to hear about the units, thank you, if I get anymore lines I’ll pick up a FR. The clear blue one I used was the type that tells you the weeks and it said it can detect so many days before missed period. I didn’t realise it wasn’t as sensitive.

You’re very right Stephisaur I was counting from my pill period and I shouldn’t have been. Thank you for all of your helpful information, it’s made me feel abit better about why I haven’t had any period signs yet. My cycle is usually reliable and regular when not on the pill or coming off so I would expect to see a period within the next week at the latest. I’ve bought some ovulation testing strips to help get me back on track and give me an idea of where I am in my cycle just incase AF doesn’t arrive. In the mean time I will expect my period to arrive and that way I won’t be too disappointed if I did just have a dodgy test this morning, bloody typical. I reckon if i use the same test as this morning and if it is legit the faint line should show again.

Hello, don't give up hope! I took two tests both CB the day my period was due and both came back negative.
I then waited another 5 days and did another two and both came back positive. It might just be that their isn't enough hormone for it to detect yet 😊
It definitely looks like a faint positive to me. Good luck!

Cocobana · 06/11/2018 20:00

Thank you so much TooSkoolForKool, that’s very kind of you to say , fingers crossed. Thanks for sharing your experience too, gosh it’s so confusing with all of these different tests, they certainly get our hopes up. I have had such a mixture of emotions today and I’ve learnt my lesson to wait a little longer in future if it isn’t to be this time.

@Cocobana false positives are pretty rare, I work in contraception and sexual health, I had a lady last year attended as she had one positive test (like yours) but negative on digital she just wanted us to confirm either way, the tests we use pick up 25 so warned her it would likely be negative, it was but I advised first response, she rang me the day after to say it was very much positive, keeping everything crossed for you xx

Cocobana · 06/11/2018 20:13

Lymphy thank you for your useful information, it certainly seems the consensus is that FR are definitely the most reliable for an earlier result. I bet that lady got such a shock after all of the negative results previously. I will pick some up if I have continued confusion. Tomorrow morning I’ll just use the same as pictured and assume if it’s legit and not a evap line it’ll show again with my first morning wee.

Cocobana · 07/11/2018 11:30

Quick update ladies, I had another evap line first thing this morning but this one looked fainter than the one yesterday and certainly could’ve be considered a positive. I’m going to leave it until weekend now and retest if AF still doesn’t arrive. I think at this point I’m getting ready to try again this month.
