How often did you POAS?

So I got my BFP last week at 9dpo with a Clearblue digital test (which I know is usual) - the result was 1-2 weeks.

over next few days I did three FRERs which have got stronger each time.

Then two cheap boots tests, not FMU, which were quite weak positives.

Then a week after my BFP another CB test with 2-3 result.

Despite this, I feel the need to keep testing. Apart from sore boobs (oh my god though) I have no symptoms - well, and a week-late AF. I just don't feel pregnant, but I'm so desperate to be. I feel like I need constant reassurance that I'm not crazy.

Do other people do this? How often did you/do you POAS? At what point did you stop?

Sorry probably not what you want to hear but once per pregnancy.

mugalug · 02/11/2018 18:00

Once on frer
Once on clear blue

That was enough

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 02/11/2018 18:00

During the week after I got my BFP I peed on about 12 different tests! Just to make sure...! I'm 8+2 now and haven't peed on one for 3 weeks because I feel pregnant, sore boobs, nausea and tiredness.

RMarieClaire · 02/11/2018 18:02

Heh, clearly there are two types of people in this world!

NorthEndGal · 02/11/2018 18:03

Once for each, just to confirm.
Back then they were 15$ a piece so I wasnt going to retest!

RMarieClaire · 02/11/2018 18:03

Thanks guys. I did my first test with certainty it would be negative, but wanted to test before a holiday just to know. I think that's part of the thing - I just don't really believe it's true. I bought some more FRERs on Amazon today. I am obsessed 😳

Approximately eleventy billion.....or maybe 6 🤭 for reassurance as I’d had a previous loss. X

Erin4000 · 02/11/2018 19:02

Ps stopped once I had an early scan. And replaced them with scans instead! X

Ragwort · 02/11/2018 19:02

Once, no idea people did it more than one Confused.

Pebblespony · 02/11/2018 19:03

Once.

RMarieClaire · 02/11/2018 19:14

@Erin4000 - I think we may be of a similar mindset. I've done 7 and know I'll do more this weekend. I'm also considering paying for an early scan to put mind at ease a bit 🤦‍♀️

I did loads... every brand many times.... I did frers for about a week to see line progression. Theee CBS to got from 1-2, 2-3 to 3+. Then I did some cheap internet ones ( which never really showed properly for me until really late and even then not satisfactory) Asda own brand , Superdrug own, a clear blue stick one. You name it. I just couldn't get over I was pregnant and I got slightly addicted to watching my line appear and darken.

Haha I've also got tons of pics and the odd video of two ! ( sometimes even now my boy is nearly one I still watch the video and I still have one of the sticks in my bathroom cabinet that I look at now and then)

Haha definitely two types of people in this world haha

OneMoreWish · 02/11/2018 19:35

Oh and congratulations!!!!!

And remember there comes a point when it doesn't show on sticks anymore but I can't remember what stage that is anymore.

Also morning sickness hit me about 7/8 weeks so I didn't need to check I was pregnant anymore lol

Lauren83 · 02/11/2018 19:49

This was about a weeks worth, plus 3 bloods and weekly scans from 5.5 weeks

How often did you POAS?
basilsenia · 02/11/2018 20:02

I pee'd on loads. I did 2 x digital and saw the weeks move up, I did 4 frer and saw the line get darker. Even though they provide great reassurance initially and it looked as it should do I still went on to miscarry at just before 8 weeks! Not trying to put a downer on it. Just keep a positive test around - you can drive yourself mental comparing lines and in the end it won't change the outcome. Enjoy it day by day 😊

RMarieClaire · 02/11/2018 20:52

I'm sorry to hear that @basilsenia - I guess nothing's certain until there's a healthy baby in your arms.

I totally get how you feel but you need to calm because stress is the worse thing for you.
Sounds like you have such a panic going on.
My nan was 5 months gone and didn't know and she's hand many dc.
I get a dream but symptoms nope not til week 8.
Try saving that Money on test for something special for you that might help instead.
Early scan aren't actually very gone for the baby, the more you have it's meant to be worse, which cause me untold worry as I had to have one every two weeks.

Kay2705 · 02/11/2018 21:00

When I got my BFP I tested again a lot!!! Maybe 8-10 test but it was because I didn't have any symptoms

DramaAlpaca · 02/11/2018 21:00

Once for each of my three pregnancies.

weegiemum · 02/11/2018 21:02

Once per pregnancy, as I think was more usual then (my dc are teenagers). Also didn't test until I was a couple of days overdue, as I didn't want to waste a test. I bought a 2 pack of tests that did 2 pregnancies!

RMarieClaire · 02/11/2018 22:48

@Halloweenallyearround - yes, I am quite an anxious person. Heightened hormones don't help. I hadn't realised that scans posed any risk! That's eye opening and makes me think twice about having a verification scan...

OP posts:
RMarieClaire · 02/11/2018 22:49

Exactly @Kay2705 - almost makes me want morning sickness to kick in so I'll have more symptoms ... but I know I'll regret saying that too!

Can I just add for a different perspective I wasn't poas because I was really stressed and worrying about a miscarriage- I did it soooo many times as I was soooo elated to be pregnant and loved watching that line appear.

Just thought I would add that as it seems women who can just do one pregnancy test are assuming we sometimes pee on lots of sticks because we are worried. Not here! It was the best feeling in the world.

As someone else said there are definitely two types of women when it comes to peeing on a stick lol

Xxx

OneMoreWish · 03/11/2018 07:32

Also I had early scans and monthly scans and my baby was fine so don't stress about that xxx
