Advice Please - Late Period + Negative Test

Hi

I am looking for some advice - I am new to these chats/ threads.

I’ve been experiencing periods for 10-12 days the past 2 months and decided to get an app to track when I’m due my period, what’s days I’m most fertile etc and according to the app I am now 5 days late. For the past 2 weeks I had suffered from sore and tender breasts, nausea, cramping and extremely tired. I took a test on Saturday and it was negative and done another on Sunday and it was negative. I now hardly have any symptoms and I just don’t understand what is going on? I’ve been getting pains in my kidneys (I assume) for a short period of time the past couple of days and then some pains in one breast then the other... Has anyone experienced this? Is this normal? Am I pregnant or not?

Thank you in advance

I am having exact same symptoms. Really weird. I did a test 3 days ago and big fat negative. Don't know wether to retest or just wait and see :(

Hey both, I had the exact same thing last month. We're TTC and usually my cycles are super regular - then the month we started I had a 23 day cycle, and then last month I had every symptom under the sun, was late and had countless negatives. Even had such bad cramping that I ended up in hospital - period eventually turned up on CD39 - no explanation for it whatsoever (this month I had a 26 day cycle). I'm off to the doctors today to discuss it...

Sorry for rambling, didn't want to read and run. I was googling everything every day I was late, and so many people had it as the start of pregnancy, but unfortunately for me it wasn't the case. Hope it helps x

Hi Cupcakesandglitter

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Can you let us know how you get on at the doctors?

It’s weird that I don’t really have any symptoms as such now and still no period?

Zaza

Maybe you didn't ovulate this month - it's really not at all uncommon. It sounds like your periods are pretty irregular though, so the app you're using will never really work since your cycles may vary slightly each month.

Have you been on hormonal contraceptives and stopped a few months ago? If yes, this could also be the cause.

If you're getting a negative test, then you're almost certainly not pregnant, sadly. I'm sure you're fine but do consult a doctor if you're worried and best of luck!

cupcakesandglitter · 30/10/2018 13:40

@Zaza89 yes I will do! I agree with @artemis2 it does sound like maybe you haven't ovulated - and also I second not using apps! I tried to log mine in an app when I had the implant out, and my periods were soooo whacky the app tried and failed to make sense of it. Not reliable at all!

Zaza89 · 30/10/2018 13:55

@artemis2 thank you for your message. I came off in August so I assumed that is why my periods have been longer and shorter...
I found discharge in my underwear and when I googled it, it mentioned that this Halle s upon ovulation and early pregnancy. I would agree that possibly the app is not accurate... I think it is best I consult my doctor to at least see if there is anything underlying.

@Zaza89 I had the implant out last year August, and my periods didn't settle until March this year - some people settle back straight away, but every woman is different - don't panic if you haven't settled yet! X

Zaza89 · 30/10/2018 14:19

Thank you... I just worry I can’t conceive

Hey @Zaza89! I feel your pain as I was in completely same situation last cycle.it was our first month of TTC, I tried planning all around ovulation and straight after the days I think I ovulated, I started getting small symptoms. Then when I was about 9DPO, I had a lower back pain which I usually don't get and my breasts were not hurting as usually before my AF is due so I definitely felt different and the lower back was during the time of possible implantation. I kept testing but all my tests were negative. So I gave up and then finally 3 weeks later my period arrived (the day before yesterday). I really dont know what happened during this cycle as I was never this late. So all I can say is, that it can happen unfortunately, without being pregnant. Think it might be something to do with our excitement and emotions maybe...that we know it may work etc.
However, I also know there is many women who got their BFPs even a week or more later as their HCG wasn't raising as fast or they just ovulated later than they thought. I was hoping this was my case. Until AF arrived 😐
Fingers crossed that it is your case!

Zaza89 · 30/10/2018 14:33

@Martina2311 thank ou for being so kind to share your experience on my thread. I think on this occasion I’m not pregnant and possibly my period is just re regulating hence being late according to an app. I was sure I was always 4 weeks between my periods and this would make it 2 so I will see how I go. I think it will be beneficial to get checked out to make sure there are no issues

@Zaza89 hey no I am not currently on any contraception.
Did another test today and negative again! No idea what is going on with my body.

Hope you get sorted
Xx

artemis2 · 30/10/2018 16:50

If you came off contraception in August it's all okay as it can take many months for your periods to regulate again. Some people don't get one for 3 months!

Mine were crazy after going off the pill until I concieved: 42, 35, 30, 39 days!

Have sex every other day to maximize your chances and keep an eye out for stretchy discharge that looks like egg whites - that means you're very close to ovulation :)

Hope you get your BFP soon and good luck!!

Zaza89 · 30/10/2018 17:20

@artemis2 the discharge was like that a week ago PST Sunday... will just need to wait and see

OP posts:
cupcakesandglitter · 30/10/2018 17:37

I've just come back from the doctors - I'm being referred for blood tests and a pelvic scan because of the fact they're suddenly light and irregular (even though they were finally regular again after the implant)

Zaza89 · 30/10/2018 17:52

Aww love... I hope all is okay! X

OP posts:
artemis2 · 30/10/2018 19:02

@Zaza89, then maybe you ovulated pretty late this cycle! I'd take a test 2 weeks after you last had that type of discharge. Fingers crossed!

Zaza89 · 30/10/2018 19:36

I will do. Thank you for your kind advice
