I’ve been temping for months to try to work out my messy cycle. I did the same before conceiving DD.

However, I rarely take the temp at the time I properly wake up. Normally I wake up around 4/5am, don’t check the time and take the temp. When I record it on my app, I realise the time and go back to sleep.

Is this an ok way to measure the temp? I’ve always been asleep for at least 3 hours, so assumed it was fine but there doesn’t seem to be a consistent pattern in the way that I saw before having DD.

The problem with waiting until the time I get up is that I am normally woken by a two year old calling for me and hop out of bed without remembering to take my temperature! So I end up with missing days.

As long as you are taking it roughly same time and after a decent chunk of sleep then all should be fine! Other things can make the temp vary though, like the PJs you are/ aren't wearing or if you had alcohol night before etc

Hmm if you're not seeing a consistent pattern with the way you're doing it at the moment I'd try a month of doing it the way they recommend if you can (same time everyday with at least 3 hours sleep).

Alternatively you could get one of the wearable sensors like ovusense or the Ava bracelet?
