I'm a mum of 4 kids under 6. Me and hubby had a little time to ourselves this morning when my MIL had the kids. So we DTD and condom split. According to my flow app I ovulated yesterday. We had decided last year after a post partum haemorrhage and 2hrs in surgery that we where finished.

So what are the chances I will get pregnant? Hubby is freaking out but doesn't agree with me taking the morning after pill

If i was you i'd be right on that MAP even if it did not agree with me!

Citylivingwithdogs · 28/10/2018 21:39

Yes you can.

tumericmasala · 28/10/2018 21:40

Gosh yes of course you can!!

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 28/10/2018 21:41

Well yes, surely that would be the ideal time to try and conceive! I would get the MAP

florenceheadache · 28/10/2018 21:43

Consider requesting a tubal ligation and avoid future worries, once you’ve sorted the map...

TheVanguardSix · 28/10/2018 21:44

Yes, of course you can get pregnant! So, if your DH doesn't want you to take the MAP, what next? Baby number 5, with such a traumatic medical history? I'd be on that MAP as well. That's just so dodgy to risk having another child having suffered so much after your last delivery. You must feel terrified.

Lottierose1989 · 28/10/2018 22:03

I'll have to go tomorrow and get it behind his back. I'm so scared of the thought of going through that again. He's been on the waiting list for a vastemony since last February. We took the map once when we were 18 over 10yrs ago and It made me so ill. But I couldn't face another pregnancy after what happened to me last December..

The morning after pill is unlikely to work if you have already ovulated as it works by delaying ovulation.

Go to sexual health and get an emergency copper coil. It is ten times more effective than the MAP and works up to 5 days after ovulation.

MissConductUS · 28/10/2018 22:13

He's been on the waiting list for a vastemony since last February.

Head explodes. It's a 40 minute outpatient procedure ffs.

Lottierose1989 · 28/10/2018 22:37

We enquired last month and apparently on the nhs it's a 2year waiting list. I've no sexual health clinics anywhere near me. Will try in the morning to get a phone call with my GP and see if they can do it a copper coil. Is it really that effective?

You could have gone to a chemist/OOH Dr earlier today and you're going to 'try' and get in with Dr tomorrow...Hmm

QOD · 28/10/2018 22:53

My surrogate got pregnant the day before her period was due
Therefore I guess anything is possible!!

(We’d been using ovulation prediction tests- nothing all month. Temperature spike the day before period and ping! Peculiar and dd is now 19)

Lottierose1989 · 29/10/2018 06:31

Hogtini chemists and drs don't open here on a Sunday. And the reason I said try was because I don't think my gp does emergency coils.

Here the pharmacies inside supermarkets open on a Sunday- they give the MAP you just ask to speak to the pharmacist.

Unicyclethief · 29/10/2018 06:38

why Are you even using an app? Unless you want to get pregnant? And why the fuck would you need to hide getting the morning after pill from anyone? Wow.

Labradoodliedoodoo · 29/10/2018 06:43

Morning after pill over the counter. Will work fine

MunchyMunchkin · 29/10/2018 07:32

Yes it’s 10 x more effective than the morning after pill. Failure rate is 1 in 1000.

Take the morning after pill if it’s all that you can get but be prepared that it might fail.

There will be an emergency coil service in your area via GP or family planning.

Lottierose1989 · 29/10/2018 07:35

Thanks Labradoodliedoodoo. Heading straight for the pharmacy once I drop the kids off to playgroup and Halloween camp.

Unicyclethief I use the app to keep track of me period. It's really heavy and I like to be prepared for it but can lose track of when it's due without the app because I'm a busy mum who also runs a house and a business. My husband has his views on the MAP that's why.

Oh ffs, it’s your body. Just get the morning after pill

Jent13c · 29/10/2018 07:51

I took it this weekend, I ovulated the day of the deed and the condom slipped off. I had a couple of days of feeling very flat and down emotionally but feeling much better this morning.
I asked the pharmacist specifically if there was much point in taking it as I had already ovulated and she recommended I still do. The effectiveness rate decreases the longer you wait to take it. Just need to wait for a couple weeks and see what the outcome is!

Lottierose1989 · 29/10/2018 08:19

Unicyclethief if you've nothing nice to say bugger off. And if you'd read my above comment I'm going to the chemist this morning to get it.

Jent13c it was awful when I took it when we were younger. Fingers crossed it works ok for us both

Unicyclethief · 29/10/2018 08:24

I haven’t said anything that is not “nice”. Are you that scared of him?

Leatherboundanddown · 29/10/2018 08:24

I don't think the MAP will work if you have already ovulated

Lottierose1989 · 29/10/2018 09:58

Really unicyclethief you've swore at me. In my opinion that's not nice. And no I'm not scared of him.

Went and got the map. Here's hoping it works. The pharmacist didn't really give much advice
