First time I've posted for probably over 8 years since dd was born. It I'm afraid is another could I be?! post but bear with me...

So regularly take the nhs version of microgynon and have been for 9 months, prior to that it was microgynon for about 4 years. On 5th October i had the most awful sickness bug (as in both ends, hand over bottom trying to keep it in whilst running around Ikea trying to find the loo's). This lasted for 3 days where I couldn't take my pill as I just kept throwing everything up. So for 2 days afterwards I doubled up my pill (the one I took on the 5th I'm pretty sure got vommed up too).

Fast forward 3 weeks and no period (Was due 20th Oct), tiniest bit of brown discharge, but...3 negative pregnancy tests. The first date of last period was 21st Sept and normally last 3 -4 days. I have never ever missed a period prior to this, regular as clockwork. To add to the conundrum I'm flying to Dubai on Sunday for a week's holiday (partying like it's 1979 or whatever the song is, can never remember) and will pretty much have to tranquilizer myself through diazepam and wine to get through the flight.

Any advice, help, ideas or free wine welcome x

Also just to add I was supposed to start taking my pill again from the 23rd but haven't in either the hope that my period will then happen, or if we are preggers at least I've stopped taking it.

When was the last time you tested?

I would go to Dubai with your plans as normal and then test when you get back. When you're back either your period will have returned or you'll get a + pregnancy test.

Went to docs last night and she thinks it will end in miscarriage (had 3 previously). Sad but I'm still clinging on to that little bit of hope that she's wrong and a test will ping up positive . Has anyone else had negatives and turned out pregnant?

@carsmith I did! My son took about 8 weeks to show I knew I was but couldn't prove it until 8 weeks later x

So a doctor said you'll miscarry without having confirmed pregnancy???! What?!

@physicskate omg thank you thank you thank you for posting that!! I was really sceptical but as it's been 5-6 years since I've been through all of this I'm a bit out of the loop and so just nodded along.

@anitagreen doctor was really adamant that a negative test is a negative test. Sounds crazy but, you know when you know? Or you think you know because otherwise nothing makes sense? Just taken another test and it is negative, but no bleeding, small brown discharge stopped 3 days ago now, and lower stomach feels like a small bag of marbles are sitting there where it's just a bit 'heavy'.

Honestly, it just sounds like coming off the pill to me!

I find it irresponsible of that doctor to use the word 'miscarriage' when as far as everyone knows, you aren't pregnant... anyone who's gone through one knows they are probably about the worst thing you could go through!!!

I'm tempted to find that doctor and have words!!!!!

@physicskate I don't know if she'd have mentioned it if I hadn't mentioned that I've had 3 previously, but yeah I did feel really down afterwards. Like you said it's the one thing nobody wants to hear but at least she's keeping it real i suppose haha! . I've stayed off the pill still but no bleeding. Just a waiting game really which sucks lol x
