Hi everyone,

I’m new and after a bit of help.
I started my last period on 25/9. I decided to stop taking my pill on the 28/9 (was on Cerelle). Usually my periods only last 4-6 days but this one dragged on until the 3rd October and became very heavy. Since then, we’ve been DTD every couple of days but I don’t know when I should be expecting AF to make her apperance. I’m regular as clockwork with the 25th of the month. I’ve been driving myself mad with testing for the past couple of days. I know it’s daft to expect anything this month. Tbh, timing wouldn’t be the best, DP has a vile ex that would more than likely cause issue with it and give it another year, things may have settled down but there is no guarantee. I’m waffling on now, I haven’t really got anyone I can talk to about any of this, sorry,

L x

I think the average cycle is 28 days long which means you would have ovulated around 9th October. If your cycle is typical it would then be another two weeks until AF is due.

My cycle is generally about 32 days though with more time before ovulation than after.

It may be that your body needs time to being off the pill - I had my first BFP on cycle 2 (but MC'd) and again then after cycle 5 once we started trying again.

I think that every cycle you only have about a 25% change of conceiving (I watched a really good YouTube about what the sperm has to go through - I'll try and find the link) so I think really it's amazing anyone ever gets pregnant!!

If you've only just come off the pill it's impossible to say really. Download a period tracker app and you should start to see a pattern soon.

@19Lou82 I could have written this exact post except I stopped mid packer and haven't had a bleed at all. I came off Cerazette on 30th Sept. been DTD every other day and I'm now also driving myself mad testing!! Fingers crossed BFP for us both soon. X

Just wanted to add - the cycle you had on the pill may be bear no resemblance to your cycles off it. Bleeds on the pill are not “periods”, they are simulated by the hormones in the pill. Everyone is like clockwork on the pill- that’s the point of it! So your cycle may or may not be close to the 28 day average, only time will tell. It can take up to a year for your periods to return to normal after stopping and for most people it’s a good few months

I know it can take a while to get back to normal. I’ve not been on the pill long, about 4 months and before that I had the implant. That worked great up until 18 months ago when I started having ‘periods’ again and generally affecting my mood.
I just don’t know when to expect to come on. I like to know, I like to be prepared. I’ve done that many tests that have all been BFN (to be expected I guess) that at least when I do come on, I know where I stand for the next month maybe? After talking for a year about another baby, I’m just being impatient, sorry x
