Fertility testing

I know the nhs won't consider fertility testing until at least a year of trying. Has anyone paid for fertility testing sooner? Is it worth it or should I just be patient?

The reason they won't test until after a year is because it's quite average for a couple to take that long to conceive. 80% will do so within a year of trying. 90% within two years - and that's without any issues.

Hi,

We did and for us it was worth it. It took us over 3 years to conceive DD1 and had tests done on the nhs which didn't find anything. We were described as having 'unexplained infertility'. We had one cycle of ivf which failed before falling pregnant naturally,

When we started ttc#2 i had a MMC and a tfmr and then struggled again to fall pregnant. Private tests showed my progesterone was dropping too quickly after ovulation so sustaining a pregnancy was an issue. They also showed I have factor v Leiden which is a clotting issue. I was prescribed progesterone and then when I fell pregnant had to have a daily injection of tinzaparin/cleaned and take low dose aspirin. That pregnancy was a success. If I had my time again I'd have gone for those private tests years ago. I probably wouldn't have gone though until it had been over a year. I would probably have had them at the same time as the nhs testing. By that point we suspected there was something not quite working as it should x

Thank you for both of your responses. Maybe it's because we initially conceived immediately but then had a miscarriage so I feel that it should be happening sooner.
I just feel that the sooner I know if there is any problems we can deal with it but maybe I'm worrying 2 much.
