Ovulation Pain?

I’ve never noticed this before but unsure if this was actually ovulation pain or what. I was sitting on the couch at the weekend and felt, what felt like a short, sharp stab on my left side. Then about five seconds later I felt it again. Then nothing! Has anyone ever experienced this as ovulation pain? Anything I read it says it should feel like period pain but that’s not what I felt. Just wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar. Thanks in advance. This page is super helpful xx

I wouldn't describe it as being like period pain. It's more like what you described above for me. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't (or perhaps don't notice it even) and it's usually only a tiny and brief pain.

yeah mine is certainly different to period pain and closer to what you described too OP

Definitely different to period pain, much more like what you're describing. Mine last longer than a few seconds though, more like half a day.

Thanks everyone! Ive never had it before. Or just never noticed it so I’m thinking that’s what it was. Just wanted to see others’ experiences!

@Marshmallow1992 I get it really bad to the point the first time I ever had it I phoned 111 as it was so painful!. It's like extreme period cramps in the centre of my belly but also more to the left x

Marshmallow1992 · 22/10/2018 12:15

@anitagreen it def wasn’t like that! Oh dear that sounds awful. It was literally for like a few seconds but it was sore and then went away. I’m praying it is because we dtd 12 hours before so should be a good amount of time haha! Thanks for your reply xx

I’d agree, I’ve felt it as short, sharp pains as though it’s inside my hip. I’ve had it last for hours before and also for a much shorter time. I find it starts all of a sudden and ends abruptly!

I feel aching over my ovaries on either side (not both) , sharp pains, and referred shoulder pain on the side corresponding with the ovary. Also your ovaries aren’t as far to the side as your kidney. They are usually closer to your belly button and the pain feels central but either to the left or right of it.

I @Marshmallow1992 that's okay I tend to think any pain during my fertile phase is a sign lol. I had an itchy ear last month and I took that as a sign I was pregnant... I wasn't

@anitagreen I’m the worst at symptom spotting. Keep telling myself I’m not going to do it and always do lol! X
