Unexpected positive after cycle turned weird

Hi, first time posting so please be gentle if my terminology is off! Also quite long - sorry Confused

I (37, live overseas with DH and dog) have just got an unexpected positive home test result.

We were definitely not TTC but my cycle has been weird lately. It used to be 32 days like clockwork, but recently shortened to 25 days, leaving me feeling all shook up.
After a very early September period, we had a condom accident 12 days after last period. Since my cycle was all over the place, I took a test 3 days after dtd and got a negative result.
My next period didn't come on what used to be my normal schedule so I waited as I thought it was just being weird. It then got really late (somewhere between 5 and 20 days late, since my cycle is so out of whack) so I just did a test and got a positive. Eek!!
Because my cycle has been off, I have no idea when I may have conceived. We've only DTD 2 times since my last period, so either I took the last test just a moment too early, or I got pregnant last weekend.
If I'm already a month gone, I'm concerned I've been doing lots of "wrong" things. In the past month I've spent 2 weeks in Japan eating raw fish, raw meat, etc. plus I work in the wine industry and have been drinking a fair amount pretty much every day with work. On top of that, I've been on a strict keto diet (basically only eating meat and fat with a few veggies) for the past 3 weeks... Are these things damaging for the baby if we decide to go ahead with the pregnancy?

So many questions! Hope someone can help Smile

I imagine it happened with the condom splitting, and 3 days after would definitely be too early to take a test. It would be at least 10 days, though ideally 14 before you would expect a reliable result.

As for the rest of it, I’ve no idea if it’s a problem I’m afraid, but I definitely wouldn’t be doing those things going forward! Though a midwife did tell me once that keto diet in pregnancy is fine, but I’d be wanting to double check that.

Thanks Houseplant! I didn't realise tests weren't effective sooner - I'd have waited longer if I'd known Blush
