One step ovulation tests

Hi! I’m on cycle 4 of ttc. Have used the clear blue ovulation tests and always got a smiley face on cycle day 16. This month I decided to use the one step ones as they are so much cheaper! I have had EWCM the past 2/3 days and cycle day 16 is today... although I have had no positive result on the one step tests!? Are these reliable? I’m a bit sad about this! As past three cycles have had a smiley face on exact same day but nothing today! I felt a sharp twinge on my left side today then ten seconds later felt it again. I feel like I’m going out of my mind here and this is just ovulation testing! Any help please anyone? Thanks in advance xx

Hi, I'm cycle 5 (might be 6 but the first month we were just not taking precautions so I'm discounting it) and I've been using the cheap ones since the first proper month.

They do give me a result which seems to tie in with ovulation pain and a subsequent increase in BBT.

I start testing on CD10 and the line darkens gradually until, usually, CD14 then fades again.

I did one the other morning and it was darkening but not quite as dark as the control line so considered it negative but I felt some pain that afternoon so did another one and he line was as dark as the control so I marked it as positive on my app.

You do get what you pay for but I think they do the job for me.... Just need everything else to start working now!!

Thank you for your reply. I just tested again and still negative! Since starting to test a few days ago the line has got a lot darker. But not as dark as should be! I have all the signs of ovulation but just no positive OPK 😭.

DTD anyway, it won't do any harm!

We are, and plenty of it 😂. Just worried I haven’t ovulated this month as getting no result! But will just keep my fingers crossed I have. Cycles are always regular give or take a day so just hoping these tests aren’t for me! Think I’ll just stick to clearblue although thought I’d give myself a rest as they are so expensive! X

I have these but first month using them - mine seem quite erratic by significantly darkening but then fading to almost nothing repeatedly. I think I'm due to ovulate at the end of next week so interested to see if I get a clear positive. The reviews suggest they are a bit hit and miss so don't assume you're not ovulating purely on the basis of these tests.

I find that the clearblue digital ones gave me my peak a day before the one step. I think that’s because on clearblue you get two days of peak and one step will only pick it up for a short window. Might be later today or tomorrow you get your positive with them. I’ve been using them for 6 months with no issues x

Thanks for the advice everyone!

Well it turns out I got a positive result tonight. I thought I just had a bad batch or something but no! Turns out I must ovulate later than I thought!
