TTC after stopping the pill

Hey all! I stopped the pill 14/9, stupidly i stopped it half way through the pack! I had a week of cramps and bleed (guessing it was a withdrawel bleed) so have been ttc since, still negative and still no period. Is there any time scale on when i should get my period? Because its just confusing me making me think im pregnant.

When I came off the pill, I had six weekly cycles. My last cycle would have been seven weeks if I hadn't conceived, as my dating scan this morning showed that I conceived five weeks after my last period, so I obviously ovulated very late.

I came off the pill in April and I have had irregular cycles ever since. First one was over 90 days, second was close to 50 and i'm currently on day 37 of my most recent one. We have only just officially started trying on this cycle though. I am going to start checking my temp or buy some ovulation sticks soon though as I am not sure when I ovulate due to the irregularity. However right now i'm experiencing cramps, sore back, tiredness but getting BFN so i'm thinking my period may be heading my way shortly if i'm not pregnant. Your first natural bleed post pill may take some time to come back, or it may come back more regular than mine has. Everyone is different.

It can take up to a year for your cycles to return to normal.
I came off my pill cilest in July. Luckily so far so good my cycles have been regular. I also think if your on the hormone only pill it effects you differently to the mini pill.
Good luck lovely!!

@SJH2018 how soon after stopping celeste did you get your first real period? Still waiting for mine..

SJH2018 · 19/10/2018 22:23

@Pastaallday about 5 weeks after. I'd be prepared for it to be heavy!!

West2401 · 23/10/2018 12:49

I came off the end of August and had a withdrawal bleed but still haven't had a period. So frustrating as we're TTC and I can't track anything! I've had symptoms from cramp and boob pain to minor vomiting. I'm constantly bloated - desperate for my body to just sort itself out!

ivf2019 · 23/10/2018 15:52

It's very normal for things to take a while to settle down when you're first off the pill - some people of course go back to "normal" cycles straight away and/or conceive before their first period, but many, many people take a while too. Try not to let it worry you (easier said than done, I appreciate!)

Unfortunately no way of predicting when you'll get your first proper period, but keep an eye out for signs of ovulation (cervical mucus that looks like egg whites - stretchy and clear - is a good one) and test two weeks after that if you don't see your period. Hopefully once you get one they'll start to settle down into a predictable cycle quickly.

It's very frustrating and I feel your pain. Good luck! xx

Thanks @ivf2019 - I actually tested positive for ovulation 3 weeks ago but still no AF and negative HPT. I had a + 2 weeks ago, then 2 - followed by another + and another -. So confusing! I've got a really active job so the fatigue and nausea is draining!
Fingers crossed it settles down soon

whyhaveidonethis · 23/10/2018 17:01

I stopped my pill 30th September, no withdrawal bleed. No AF. BFN tests. It's doing my head in. I'm also bloated and feel nauseous constantly.

whyhaveidonethis · 23/10/2018 17:01

I stopped my pill mid pack on 30th September, no withdrawal bleed. No AF. BFN tests. It's doing my head in. I'm also bloated and feel nauseous constantly. It's doing my head in.

We are DTD every other day to ensure we don't miss ovulation but it's all a bit of a guessing game. So annoying as when I was on the pill and missed one I ALWAYS had a withdrawal bleed and now nothing. I'm just hoping the BFP arrives soon; although it's difficult to know when to test....I know it's far too early now but didn't stop me trying!! Love a good old POAS!

Marshmallow1992 · 23/10/2018 17:14

I came off the cilest mid July and have had regular periods since. On fourth cycle ttc and currently around 2dpo. I’ve been lucky that my cycles regulated instantly to 28 days but still no BFP! As I’ve read it can take a while for cervical mucus to thin and also to actually ovulate as the hormones leave your body.

Pastaallday · 26/10/2018 20:30

How is everyone? I'm still waiting for my period to start! 5 and a half weeks since my withdrawel bleed finished! Will probably start using opk again next week just to check if I'm randomly ovulating.

West2401 · 26/10/2018 22:16

It's been 8 weeks for me @Pastaallday even though i got s positive ovulation test 4 weeks ago it's driving me insane! I don't know what's going on at all, I feel like my body is failing me as a woman!

Blueberry001 · 26/10/2018 22:27

I stopped my Mycrogyon on 1st Sept? Got my first period on 17th October 2018! So cycle day 44 for me!

Pastaallday · 28/10/2018 18:33

Clutching at straws here....does anyone think supplements lengths their cycle at all? I'm only taking Holland and Barrett folic acid with vitamin d tablets. I don't know whether this could affect things.

West2401 · 28/10/2018 18:45

I believe they are more likely to help rather than hinder your cycle, but I think it's all just a guessing game!
